If You are planning to spend a couple of nights in Stone Town (and actually you don't need more) this hotel would be a great choice indeed! Perfecly located - 10 minutes walk to all main attractions. Beautiful rooms Swahili style. Good breakfast on the roof with a beutiful view. reasonable rpice - really a good deal.

An amazing find in Stone town! This hotel offers wonderful service, its staff is so helpful and friendly, the rooms are clean, big and lovely! Equipped with everything you would need, good air conditioning & free WiFi at all times. Location is fantastic, there are many shops and sightseeing attractions nearby. I highly recommend this hotel for a lovely stay in Stone town!

My husband and I stayed at Kisiwa house on the last night of our trip to Tanzania, the hotel was stunning and exactly what we needed at the end of our Safari. Our room was elegant and clean with a very comfortable bed. The location was perfect for our short stay in Stone town, the staff was accommodating, cooperative and professional. Hope to return again someday.

Firstly, the location of Kisiwe House in Stonetown is absolutely perfect, so for this reason alone I would actually recommend it for your stay. It's within easy walking distance of everywhere, it's in a very quiet side street so is not disruptive, and yet was easy to find and get our bearings from everywhere we went.

The hotel rooms were also well furnished, had beautiful bathrooms and were kept very clean. Our junior suite was a lovely size, not small but also not wastefully big, and it was on the 3rd floor so was very quiet at night too. It had all the necessities... mosquito nets, air conditioning and ceiling fan, safe etc. Only downside was that they had to push 2 single beds together for us to have a double, on our honeymoon, but it wasn't very comfortable in the middle obviously.

But as I say, it was perfect if you're looking for a well located, functional hotel room but doesn't offer anything to wow you or really make it a fantastic stay. It's a great base to get out and about and enjoy Stonetown but you really wouldn't spend any time in the hotel itself. The staff were warm and friendly, as were all Tanzanians we came across, but not very out-going or comfortable with English, so whilst we tried to get their advice on places to go and things to do, they weren't great at offering it so we mostly had to make our own way.

Only negative thing about our stay was that the roof terrace where they serve breakfast was directly above our bedroom, and at 5am they started moving furniture around to clean the terrace which made a massive noise in our bedroom and kept us awake. It was only the 1 night though.

So perfectly comfortable and peaceful stay but nothing really to "write home about".

Room Tip: Try get a junior suite or above, as we saw the standard rooms and these looked quite poky, with the...

We stayed one night prior to our departure back to the States. I wanted a central location in Stone Town and this fit the bill. The hotel was friendly, clean, rooms with AC and quite spacious. Breakfast was included and very good. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Perfect ending to a perfect trip!

We enjoyed this hotel for two days after a month of safaris in Tanzania. It is set in the former home of a wealthy "Swahili" family. The place oozes characcter from the rooms to the beautiful central lounging area to the terrace restaurant on the roof with some peekaboo views. The . rooms are large and modern with A/C, all the hot water you could want (you'll know what I mean after a month in the bush), good wifi, a large bathroom and all the other typical amenities. See the room hints for more on the room. The restaurant had entertainment (Taarab - unique Zanzabarian music) one of the nights. The hotel has a good central location in the old quarter of Stonetown. I think it is a superb choice unless you want a big western style hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 10 (top floor NE corner below the restaurant - keep that in mind as there are no elevato...
