“Nice Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We had a enjoyable one night stop at this lodge. Very quiet rooms with great views over the lake. Our guide Benson from Ketas Safaris made sure we saw just about every animals and bird at the park. This is a park you need a guide with plenty of knowledge on all animals and birds, and Benson did, which made our trip one to remember. Would certainly visit there again.

A magically lit camp at night, the 2 story concrete huts are very comfortable. Good hot showers and wifi in the rooms. Meals were good, offering both buffets and a la carte dinner options. Evening entertainment by the pool at sunset was enjoyable. We arrived too late to enjoy the pool so would have liked another night here. Lake Manyara Park was smaller than many of the others we had seen, but we still saw a lot of wildlife. Leaving here at noon made for a very long drive to the Serengeti.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view over the escarpment. Breathtaking!

As part of a group tour (with no control over the accommodation bookings), this placed served well. The meals were pleasant and there was variety of food to suits all tastes. The logistics of about 40+of us arriving and leaving and requiring meals simultaneously was handled well. The pool was a pleasant oasis in the middle of a hot day after a game drive and we were there in the spring! Staff were pleasant and attentive. The decor of the room we stayed in was probably a little tired and but everything worked, it was comfortable and we knew we were here, not for the hotel experience but to be out on game safaris. We saw a lot of wildlife on our game drive here but saw more in the Ngorogoro Crater and more still in the Masaii Mara area. If we had been to the other locations first, this may have been a disappointment, but the way our trips was organised, our game drives just became more and more exciting. The benefit of this place was the proximity to the game reserve. Very little driving and we were there seeing animals, already.

We had a pleasant stay here and found no faults. Have a nice swimming pool overlooking Lake Manyara. Unfortunately it wasn't warm enough to go swimming. Entertainment by the pool before dinner. Food was excellent and staff was very efficient. Free wifi which worked well in the room. It was nice place to relax after a few days in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara.
Lake Manyara had little wildlife so we found 1 game drive in the morning was sufficient so spent a pleasant afternoon relaxing at the lodge.

Strange hotel layout, two storeys in mass concrete and rambling around a hillside. It has a pool, which is a relief during the heat of the day (game drives are only worth doing at sunrise or sunset) and rock hyrax everywhere about, plus great lizards of exotic colours keep the insects down too.

The place to stay for seeing Lake Manyara reserve - usual buffer style food and not a zebra steak in sight.

Room Tip: Closer to reception the better or you will be stumbling about hilly paths in the dark with your case...

One is immediately struck by the landscaping of grass and trees and the beautiful pool, overlooking Lake Manyara. Three modern rooms are contained in each hobbit-styled unit complete with beds, desk, bath with shower and patio. The dining room includes a buffet for lunch and combination of buffet and ordering from a menu in the evening. Our party of seven had a reserved table. On a week’s safari by Simba Safaris, an excellent company, this was one of three Serena Lodges that was used. I thoroughly enjoyed our brief time at this lodge, although the Lake Manyara Park contained the least amount of game of the four parks that were visited in July.

First experience with a Serena hotel chain. It was traditionally set up as a hotel overlooking the lake and plains. The staff was helpful but always looking for tips. The buffet food was good but not spectacular. Several in the group were housed in rooms that experienced broken water pipes so stories abounded about this inconvenience. It was, however, a step up from Mount Meru Game Lodge. A good stop before getting into the Serengeti.

Room Tip: Rooms were large and spacious. Bring flashlights to assist in getting around as evening is very dar...
