If you read the reviews you'll notice people either love it or hate it. Believe the negative posts that mention the musty smell, slow toilets, old carpets & cold breakfast. Reviews of staff are accurate being both good and bad. Some staff are extremely friendly and helpful while some were rude and obviously want to be somewhere else. The ice maker down the hall worked fine. Plenty of vending machines.

Good: Water pressure was good and hot water eventually arrived on our 4th floor bathroom but draining in sink and toilet was slow. Contrary to other reviews our room had a flat screen TV. The frig and microwave were included as we requested. It would have been nice if the frig had been plugged in so I didn't think I just had to turn it on.

Plenty of hangers, but wished we had noticed the extra blanket in the dresser. Parking was free and plentiful. Close to highway and many stores and restaurants. Price was cheapest in town. I never tried the free WiFi but I was impressed there was a router in the room so you could use its individual password making it more secure than most hotels. We also had plenty of outlets.

Remodeling the rooms is deceptive. Instead of replacing moldy wall, they painted over water marks. Instead of replacing carpets, it appears they just shampooed the old ones. Our door had to be slammed shut because it was warped. Air conditioners are loud but not horrible. It blocked any outside noise. The problem was without a thermostat you needed to play with the settings so it took two days to find the right positions. First night we froze.

House keeping did good considering what they had to work with. Vacuum was not commercial and looked like it came from The Wal*mart. The electrical cord was cracked and taped. Very dangerous. Plenty of covered paper drinking cups so we didn't have to worry about fancy glasses wiped clean which happen to us at a Hyatt in Reston, VA.

Bottom line, some hotels could learn some lessons from the Watertown Ramada(hangers, secure WiFi & plenty of outlets) and if they could do something about the smell I would recommend it to friends on a budget.

Room Tip: If you want a frig, ask ahead of time. Don't be afraid to say you want a clean room and tell th...

I just had to cancel my credit card because the bartender was writing something down as she was waiting for my card to clear. I'm not certain she wrote my card number down, but you just don't write anything when your holding someone else's credit card.
The room was ok, no fridge, no microwave, no breakfast... but hey, you're in northern NY state.
