“Magical Stay at the Four Seasons!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

We stayed at the Four Seasons over Christmas and New Year and had a wonderful time. We had a stunning hill top villa with plunge pool. This is one of the busiest times for the hotel but the service couldn't have been better. The staff were very attentive and the hotel manager came and mingled with all the guests everyday checking that everything was running smoothly. It really is a very slick operation. The beach is beautiful just like the rest of the resort. The hotel is separated into lots of separate parts all over a steep hillside and you can call for buggies that come and drive you from your room to the spa. They always arrived really quickly. We only had one rainy evening where we had to wait a little while for one to turn up. The food is excellent, the breakfast buffet was fantastic as were the restaurant offerings and in room dining. I was pregnant while there and they were very accommodating finding us a spot of shade on the beach. We were originally staying at another hotel on the Island and had to move as it was appalling. We had such a great time here we are booked to go back next year. I would recommend this hotel to anyone it was exceptionally good both for couples and those with children. The rooms are super luxurious, the bathrooms enormous you really feel that it is a very special place.

We were on our honeymoon and we stayed at Four Seasons just one night, after 3 nights in La digue island.
Although I chose to stay more in La digue (since I saw its stunningly beautiful beaches on the internet before), I would have stayed more nights in FS in Mahe island if I had known about it.
Maybe because I wasn't very satisfied with the service and facilities in so-called best resort in La digue, I was very impressed with the service in FS.

The resort itself is beautiful, staffs are very kind and really make you feel like home.
Upon arrival, we loved the view and asked the staff at the front desk if we could upgrade from Garden view to Ocean view villa, but there was no vacancy so we just stayed in Garden view villa. The next day, our departure flight was at about 11pm, and the FS not only offered us late checkout till our departure time but also moved us to Ocean view villa after the regular checkout time (the staff even asked the next morning if we wanted to move earlier before checkout to back to back room, but we didn't know exactly what it meant and thought the room might be not as good, so we moved at 12pm)
It rained that day so we couldn't go out to the beach but we enjoyed the Ocean-view and the small but cozy library( I didn't expect to find any Korean book but I did and loved the book !)
Massage at the hill top was also very nice and relaxing.
The food was good and complimentary chocolate mousse cake was delicious.
Most of all, we very much appreciated the wonderful service.
Wherever we go, our next choice will definitely be FS.

It is an unusual trip that brings one solo to the honeymooners paradise of the Seychelles. I was on my way to fishing trip further afield in the seychelles but decided to spend a few days in Mahe to recover from Jet Lag and just unwind. I read all the reviews of the hotels in the Seychelles. Many great resorts from which to chose and at a variety of prices. Even though the Four Seasons was expensive the reviews of the resort seemed to make it appear as one of those once in a life time places. Who knows when i would get back to the Seychelles so I splurged on myself.

It truly was a special resort and I found the staff incredibly helpful and attentive. While restaurant service on islands is often an issue since local help just doesn't understand the level and detail of service that is offered at other establishments i found the service fantastic. That said i saw another couple struggle to get waited upon. It was the perfect storm of a restaurant being "slammed" with many large groups arriving at the same time and guest letting a child wander off to feed the fish in a nearby pond. The staff obviously did not feel comfortable letting a young child stand near a pond unattended so one of the servers was stuck baby sitting. Suddenly the restaurant was busy and short a staff member and a couple was not getting the drink ordered that they wanted. It was somehow reassuring that the restaurant employee felt that the child's safety was his most important duty in the moment. Dining alone lets one watch the complexity of how a restaurant handles a crush of diners and goes about servicing those dining. I must say that i found the service at Four Seasons Seychelles on par if not better than any Four Season hotel I have stayed at. I never waited more than 10 minutes for the buggy to arrive and the front desk was always a pleasure to deal with.

When I return to the Seychelles hopefully the family will come and I can enjoy all the activities I saw on the daily events paper. Certainly plenty to do. I just elected to do nothing and enjoy the spa treatments. The spa was different than most hotels as it did not have a changing room and pre and after spa shower, saunas and steams but the treatments were heavenly.

The whole experience was definitely worth the price!

Room Tip: the hillside villas with the infinity pools are worth the price of admission!!

Dear Rob T.

Thank you for your sparkling review of our Resort! You clearly have an eye for detail, and it was fantastic that you picked up on the hard work and personal touches of our team in ZEZ. As you mentioned, running a Resort on a remote island does have its challenges, but it's great to be recognised for the fantastic attitude and diligence of the wonderful team that we are so lucky to have here.

We will be adding sauna and steam rooms to the Spa soon, so I hope the works will be complete by the next time you visit. We look forward to welcoming you with your family very soon.

We are a family with 3 small children aged 4, 5 and 8 and stayed there for 7 nights in beg. of March. The resort was so kind to let all of us share one villa. The garden view villas where awsome with their own swimming pool and maximum privacy. The beach is amazing and so was the kids club. They arraged a birthday party for our 4 year old and provided cake and presents. That was really appreciated. The staff was fantastic. A special thanks to Hans and De Wan (Kennel), Budy(beach dinner), Pat (buggy)and Christina ( front desk) for making our stay unforgettable.
We found the food to be very good and the fact that they didnt charge our children for food makes this FS a fantastic value for money for familes( never thought I would say that about FS:))
My wife had a massage every day at the spa at said it was fantastic.
Snorkeling on the house reef was also very good.
This must be paradise:)
We loved it. The kids loved it. We will be back for sure!

i do not want to underestimate the other hotels luxury 5* resorts in Seychelles yet our experience in four seasons made us not interested to know what other resorts offer as it can't be better..
The resort is like a small village, overlooking one of the most beautiful beaches in the world..
the top hill villas has its own swimming pool and breathtaking views..
and if you are with kids, do not worry, this place has a lot of activities for them, the kids club in the hotel has trained staff to entertain your children for the whole day...

We are a couple engaged in design and architecture, travelling with our 13 year old daughter, just back from a week stay at Four Seasons. The hotel takes advantage of a splendid location and an intelligent, generous layout. The rooms are very comfortable and wellcoming, their space well articulated, both indoor and outdoor. We booked a garden villa, which had no view to the sea but was surrounded by luxuriant vegetation. It was quiet, secluded and shady, allowing maximum privacy and the convenient vicinity to pool and beach. During our stay, I walked around and, while not willing to intrude in other people's spaces, looked at views and orientation and came to the conclusion that next time we will ask for a sea view in the lower to middle level, possibly located to the right side of the resort (looking down to the beach from the reception area). The higher the level, the better the view gets, of course, but then there is a bit of ups and downs to endure for getting to beach and restaurants. A mild exercise, and easily avoidable by using the very curteous and prompt service of the many buggies at the guests' permanent disposal. We didn't use these much, but when we asked for it, never had to wait more than a couple of minutes...
The garden suite, leafy and soothing after a day in the sun, had also the good side of "forcing" us to get out of its cocooning, and taking full advantage of the beach, which is just perfect: no other words can describe it. The beach service was good, providing an endless string of fresh towels, juices and water, evian spray and sunglasses' cleaning, feet massage and fruits' snacks. Apart the sybaritic side, the water is warm, and clear, the sand white, the plants provide a most necessary, balmy shade and refuge to thousands of singing birds, while just a few meters from the shore lays a rich, lively and colorful underwater world, full of life and surprises. I am a keen, expert diver, and thought that "resort diving" would not be particularly intesting, at least for me. I was wrong. A well organized diving operation is running with impeccable precision and procedures, allowing rather interesting dives at short distance from the bay where the resort is located. And i had the further surprise of seeing in a casual snorkeling done along the shore some creatures that are not even so frequently spotted in open waters: eagle rays (two big and a delightful baby one, perfect in her miniature being, no more than 15 cm wide: never saw something like this in more than 500 logged dives in many and very diverse sites i had the good luck to go to, over the last years), napoleon wrasses, barracudas, bumphead parrot fishes, sting rays of different sorts, and all the more common reef fishes one can see in healthy, well preserved environments. The resorts' dive center is well equipped and well organized, handled by a young, competent and enthusiastic girl. The outsorced diving operation runs smoothly and nicely, and i noticed with pleasure the safety equipment and procedures not many operators finally care to gear themselves and their guests with.
The pool area is very attractive, located just near the beach, with plenty of space, sun and shade, a plesant bar/lounge setting and service and the good creole restaurant.
In spite of our not so high expectations, due to some of the written reviews, we found the food good, tasty and neat, albeith (as expected) a bit expensive or, rather, i would better say, handled with a bit lesser generous attitude than all the rest. Prices are high, indeed, but can be justified by some further little improvements here and there, either in the size of portions, or in the quality and choice of certain components: for example, i asked for a fruit platter, as a late afternoon snack, were the fruits were not particularly good, nor particularly plentiful, and this shall not happen at this level of prices, better say that this is not available, and offer something else instead. This being said, we eat well, varied and even sometimes especially enjoyed the offer (the indian night, for instance). Personnel was polite and pleasant, although perhaps the relation is slightly less personal compared to other individual boutique resorts we have been going to. On the other hand, Four Seasons is a serious brand, and a well established chain, so it is also normal that general organization sometimes overcomes a more personal, customized and individualized approach. All in all, we were satisfied by the courtesy, attentiveness and good spirit of the many people engaged in managing the many tasks that running such an operation requires. And we are definitely loking forward to go back as soon as possible.
One single "professional" suggestion to the management: please do check the relation table/chair, some of the dining tables are quite high, while the seating position is too low, and viceversa (such is the case of the Sezz lounge). This not only it is uncomfortable, but also makes one's eating habits and position rather unelegant! Sitting low is certainly more relaxed, but not if the table is too high, or the chair/settee is too deep (like at the bar at the beach): just provide extra cushions, and everything will be fine.
And, oops: provide free wifi throughout, this is not anymore an issue to be discussed or dealt with by charging extra! It looks petty, and you shall not.
Thanks for your patience, and see you again soon.

Room Tip: Garden rooms have no view but seclusion and privacy, and are closer to the beach and pool: in case...

Dear fztraveller,

Thank you so much for your detailed review of the Resort. I will make sure that I pass on your praise to the whole team. It sounds like you really explored all that the Resort has to offer. I'm so glad you experienced the wonders of the marine life by diving and snorkeling in our Petite Anse bay - it really is a wonderland!

I will look closer into your comments about the difference in height of the tables and chairs as we strive for perfection in our dining experience. I'd also love to hear a little more from you with regards to your suggestions about portion sizes, as I was sorry to hear you didn't find these to be up to the high standards elsewhere. If you have any time to contact me at alex.porteous@fourseasons.com then I would really appreciate your time.

We stayed at the Four Seasons in Mahé for three nights (18-21 feb 2012), we loved the location of the hotel in one of the best beaches from the island, which is de facto private for the hotel as you can only access by boat or being a guest of the hotel. Rooms are splendid, big with great views and nicely decorated. The staff is friendly and kind. I would note as only problem that restaurant/bar prices are a bit too over the top and also that they don't include taxes and service charge, so every price you see on the menus you have to add a 25% additional charge which make prices a bit too expensive. Food is ok but definetly not worth the money you pay for it. For instance the Criolle Buffet one night cost us about 90 Euro per person.
