“5* Holiday...5* Magical Wedding...5* Amazing Honeymoon...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

Like the report below,we too are dubious about writting a 'positive review' (only because we would like to keep it to ourselves) but we feel this hotel deserves the credit!!!
My husband & I were here on 5 July - 20 July for our Holiday/Wedding & Honeymoon.
Well where do we begin.
First of all let us get 'the negatives' our of the way, then you can read on and look forward to booking this wonderful gem of a hotel.
Yes previous reports have mentioned the Sunbeds..they do not adjust like most do in other hotels but there again they are not uncomfortable and as for reading whilst you are on them, its fine we sat on them everyday on the beach and found them fine,we did put an extra cushion on to lie on somedays and yes it is windy there but you are very grateful of this with the heat that is there and there is windbreaks to stop the majority of the wind whilst you are sunbathing, but the only thing with the wind is you dont feel yourself burning so you have to make sure you put plenty of lotion on even when its cloudy becasue the severity of the rays are quite deceiving. Other than that we have Nothing negative to say.
This hotel is 3* but for service and food it should be more 4/5*. I would say the only reason it is not a 5* is because it does not have plush rooms with plamsa TV's,comlimentary toiltries and upto date sunbeds or a grand enterance other than that it would be 5*.
Our first impression when the taxi drove up was OMG its like a travelodge, directly off the road, no grand driveway, we both thought OMG this is where we are to have our wedding and it didnt look that great. But as soon as we got into the reception area and were greeted by the nicest friendliest staff with a wonderfull cold cocktail and told that although it was only 11.30am, our rooms were ready for us,the room guy instantly took took our bags up for us, we were told we have 'the best sea view rooms',lunch is served in an hour and anything else that we wanted we were simply just to ask as nothing was a problem or too much trouble. We thought wow what a lovley welcome. Then we got to our room and it was amazing we did have the best sea view ever, the room was lovley, it had everything you could need, large bed, large bathroom, it was basic but very very clean and modern. Lots of storage space, nothing to complain about whatsoever.
We have stayed in some very plush hotels in many different countries and we were expecting this hotel to more basic than we had imagined due to other reports on here, but we were pleasantly suprised with how nice our room was and the view was just the best. If you came here and moaned about the room you would have to be quite sad, because the view from the room was simply quite stunning and thats what we were there for the beauty of this island...and certainly not to look at our room.
The food as mentioned before is unbeleivable. 4 nights a la carte and 3 buffet. we travelled with my husbands parents as they came for our wedding. I have to say my new mother-in-law is just the fussiest eater ever. But I can tell you there was somthing for her everyday. She never went hungry once. She doesnt eat curry, fish, spicey food or fancy food. she likes her plain old fashioned british food. well they looked after her beyond belief. Whenever there was curry /indian or Maurition nights she would have the best steak 'n' chips you have ever seen or tasted. And lunch times she would have a cheese/onion & ham toastie that she said were totally delicious. Dan, the food & beverage manger would always come to her and ask her if there was anything she would like making for her evening meal. Not every night would she have somthing special made for her as she did eat from the buffet almost everytime that it was 'normal' food. She even had a jacket potato one night with melted cheese which is her favorate. So if you go here thinking every night its curry curry curry you would be very wrong. i love curry any kind of curry spicey and hot ones but I was here for 4 days before I got to taste one of their curries which I have to say was amazing. The food all round is simply amazing from breakfast - lunch - snacks - evening meals. Some of the best food I have ever had on an all inclusive and no two nights whilst we were here for two weeks did we have the same food. I know thats rare because most all inclusives we have been too are very repetative and samey and get very boring. This was not the case here. If you have any problems whith the evening menu you simply speak to waiters in the morning after the eveing menu went on display and ask them for somthing else. They never minded and they were always very obliging.
To our wedding ...WOW we had the most magical day we could have ever wished for. On arrival I was given another room to keep my wedding attire in so that my future husband would not see any of it and I was told that I could also use that room to get ready in on the morning of our wedding. I thought this was a great gesture. The wedding co-ordinatior arranged EVERYTHING for us. M y flowers we simply stunning. Dan was amazing on the day instructing us on our every move. Zi who served us our champagne was an excellent waiter. The day was just perfect. After we had had all our photographs taken the resteraunt puton a finger buffet for us which was gorgeous, we sat there whilst we drunk Champagne and opened our cards. The photographer and DVD men were also brilliant and we have some amazing photographs from them. Some of the guests were watching our wedding and that was lovley, that they were there to share our special day with us even though we never knew them very well, we shall always remember them for being there on that special day. (I have put a photogra[h on here on our gang) Jude the singer sang for us during and after the ceremony and it was magical. He is brilliant.
Like others have said in reports DO the lions. Its the best trip you will ever do in your life. It's quite sureal that you are actually 'WALKING' with Lions and get to stroke them and walk by their side. Dont have any doubts whatsoever book this trip if its the only trip you do, and book with reception its much cheaper then with any of the reps and the reception staff arrange everything for you. Your taxi, your wake-up call your breakfast in your room- everything.
We even went to Port Louis to the racing, it was a brilliant day. Not quite the same as in the UK , the betting is diffrent, its on every Saturday and its a great day. It coist us pence to get in and you have a balconey. This was arranged through the reception staff they are ever so helpfull they will advise you on anything and arrange everything for you.
All in all we could not have booked a better hotel to have our holiday/wedding and honeymoon in. This hotel is truly a little gem.
Because its small too, all the staff get to know you and by the first few days they know you by name which for us was very nice and personal. My mother and Father in law also said that there was nothing you could fault the hotel on, food, cleanliness, friendly staff and very professional.
We could not have been treated any better no matter what number of stars are against any other hotel, we could not have choosen a more magical place to have our wedding.
For future reference we have decided that nothing can ever match up to the experience we had from all the wonderfull staff and the paradise island of Mauritius.
To all of you who are reading this that were there on 12 July and saw our weddng and to all the staff at the Silver Beach , thank you for a wonderful unforgtable time - Paul & Samantha Hacquoil

Room Tip: Tip: Ask for rooms 401,402,403 or 404 all on on the 4th floor and have the best views ever

I am slightly dubious about writing this reveiw as I am torn between keeping this place a secret for those of us that have already been or sharing this wonderful hidden gem with the rest of you.

I know one mans trash is another mans treasure, but this seroiusly was the best holidays we have had abd that includes the malldives.

The hotel is truely a hidden treasure, from the minute you arrive you are treated as if you are the only guest there. Greeted with drinks at reception which were very welcome after the long direct flight. Room was ready on arrival, which was top floor sea view room 402 from where we were lucky enough to see whales jumping out of the ocean, spectacular view. The room itself was spotless, walk in shower with great pressure and plenty of hot water. Room boy did fantastc towel sculptures.

A lot has been said about the food at this hotel, I am a bit of a foodie and even i was impressed. Everything from Smoked Marlin to Fillet Steak. It was our wedding anniversary while we were there and the staff even managed to get me lobster to celebrate. The food was never became repetative. Usually when you go on holiday you come back craving something, but not here, trust me you will not be dissapointed. TIP!!! My husband is quite a fussy eater and on a couple of occasions he did not like something on the set menu. Just let someone know during the day ( The menu is posted on the board near the restaurant around 11am) and the chef will be more than happy to cook you something to your liking.

Wine is served by the bottle, the white was a little harsh but the rose and red were great. All of the staff were amazing, special thanks to james Bond (Rashi) who is not only funny and entertaining but one of the best vodka martini makers I have ever met. This guy went a long way to making our nights fun and relaxing. As he says " We like to treat people as family not guests" Also Yaasir if you read this your wedding invatation has been delivered.

It can be quite windy but if it gets too much we had great fun building a wind break out of the sun bed cushion, the pool boys dont mind in fact they find it funny. Some days the wind was appreciated as it releaved the heat,

The evening entertainment was good, some good dance shows and good singers, not eveyones cup of tea but was suitable for the size of the hotel and guests.

We went on the walking with lion trip, well worth the money and an amazing experience. We booked this direct through the hotel before we arrived, they were cheaper then booking with the rep.

If you are wanting a holiday that is full of noise and nightlife then this is not the place for you. If like us you are wanting to wind down, relax with great company and food then it is a must. Cant wait to return

We have left this hotel with heavy hearts and will defintly be going back.. Thanks to all staff and guest who made this a great holiday.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask . I have left a few extra pointers below.

Book your trips with the hotel as they are cheaper then the reps.

Behind the bar are two large bowls of home made rum. Try it once you will love it. Try it twice you may not get to your room. it is lethal.

Food out side of the hotel can be very expensive. Be carefull!! We ended up paying around £63 for three basic main meals and three drinks.s

Explore, the people are great and it is the most beautiful island.

What an awesome hotel. Amazing location, absolutely brilliant staff and a great restaurant.

The employees could not have been more friendly and helpful. During our two weeks there was very little food repetition. Breakfasts were great with Gita doing fresh poached eggs and omelettes with some great pancakes. Lunch was also tasty with salads, rice and pasta dishes. The buffet and menued evening meals were of great quality and excellent service.

Rooms were more than acceptable. Great views and nice bathroom although the beds were a little firm for us. No radio but we’d taken along our own MP3 player and speakers. TV had 3 channels with some hilarious dramas.

My only disappointment? It’s the Mauritian winter so no mangoes. But lots of lovely pineapple and papaya.

A few tips.

Negotiate! Don’t ever settle for the first price whether its cabs or carvings.
Wind – Bear in mind when the windy periods are. It was windy when we were there, something that you may appreciate or not. It certainly cooled us down.
Taxi tours - If you are going out on a guided tour in a taxi and don’t like shopping or being told where to shop just let the driver know. Some will drop you at the door of a shop for a ‘break’.
Scuba Diving – Dev at Divetime just down the road offers good quality safe diving at a reasonable cost. And he’ll pick you up from the Silver Beach.
Rooms – In my view the sea view rooms are worth the extra cost, although slightly smaller.
Sunbeds – Very firm without adjustment. We took a few blow up cushions and a lilo to soften them.
Pillows – The pillows in our room were not the fluffiest. We rang reception and received a selection of nice pillows in a few minutes
Towels – Towels vary in size and quality. A quiet word with the person that refreshes the room each day will help.
Beach – As mentioned, the sand can be tough on sensitive feet so swimming shoes will be useful. Saying that, I was always in bare feet before I put on my fins.
Snorkelling - Directly off the beach we saw 2 Lion Fish and a very young moray eel. However there is very good snorkelling off to the left of the beach starting from the Hotel Bougainville beach.
Coffee – It may have been just our taste buds we thought the coffee was terrible. They have great coffee in the bar at the next hotel. Next time we’ll take our own coffee and percolator.

We are just back after spending a week in Mauritius, staying at the Silver Beach Hotel. Its fantastic value for money. The rooms were clean and towels were changed every day. Everything was organised well. Food was fabulous. Great place to go with family and we felt completely at ease though the children were in a separate room, very safe. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Specially Salim at the Reception desk, who helped us plan our free days with his valuable suggestions and organised things so that everything went smoothly. The music and dance programmes at dinner time also ensured that evenings were interesting and relaxing.

The only minus - the winds on the east coast are pretty strong and can be a damper if the temperatures are on the lower side. But the beach was lovely. A heaven for kite surfers.

All in all a place we would strongly recommend as providing great value for money. A completely relaxing stay. Will go back again.

Room Tip: The rooms at the eastern most part of the hotel facing the ocean have a superb view. The garden faci...

We had a garden room which was lovely, comfy bed and bathroom with good shower.
We enjoyed sunbathing in the garden area rather than the beach, and there were plenty of sun loungers and shade if required. Beach is lovely sand and most attractive.
Staff were brilliant - all of them. Waiters particularly nice, providing a very prompt service. We found the found to be great. Such a variety of options, lovely salads and masses of fish options as well as meat of course.
The hotel is located in a quiet part of the island, and all-inclusive is a sensible option in this area. We stayed for 2 weeks and no way did we get tired of the food. If you want fries and burgers, there is a special serving of these from about 1430.
We took a bus to the local market which was good as it introduced us to some of the island's culture. Otherwise, used local taxis to visit the botanical garden, Grande Baie and the north, Cap Gris Gris, and one or two other spots.
Local town is walkable (left out of hotel) with some interesting shops.
