“Teething problems followed by a great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We initially had some problems with this resort but ultimately ended up having a fantastic stay. We had booked a Deluxe room which when we arrived had a very bad damp odour and many of the soft furnishings were clearly very stained and old, and the room was not very clean. The resort was very full and we were shown another room in the same category that had the same problems. Our initial complaint to the lady managing the front desk was rather rudely met with a Gallic shrug until we escalated to the senior management who were much more efficient. The following morning we were given a double upgrade to an Ocean suite which was simply enormous, much more modern and with a sumptuous bathroom. This more than made up for the initial issues, though I think if we had had to stay in the original room we would have certainly moved resorts - the lesson to be learned is that the newer Frangipani part of the resort is the place to be as others have commented. From this moment on we were able to enjoy the fantastic services of the resort. The food in the buffet restaurant is very good in the evenings, with more choice than you could ever get bored of and different choices each night - we particularly thought the desserts were special. Breakfast was a little more restricted and more of a free-for-all. The Indian restaurant was amazing, really one of the finest Indian meals I've had, and not too expensive after they credit your account for not eating at the buffet (assuming you are staying HB/FB). Entertainment nightly in the Sega bar was enjoyable too. The highlight of the trip was the really great service from Vishal Saurah at the dive centre who was a fantastic instructor. We did a PADI certification course and it was a nice luxury to have a private instructor, boat and all the equipment to ourselves all located within the resort. Of the two beach islands, Ile Aux Cerfs is public and way too busy to be enjoyable unless you are going to the golf course (which was fabulous) or to the hotel's own watersports centre. There are also hawkers who don't make it clear they aren't from Le Touessrok and try to charge you for stuff the hotel provides for free. Mangenie was much nicer, great beach service and very tranquil with a good casual restaurant for lunch and good loungers, although we had to buy protective beach shoes as it was almost impossible to enter the water without treading on sea urchins. As I already mentioned the golf course was epic - very beautiful and very challenging (even a pro would lose a lot of balls here so take extra) but still enjoyable nonetheless. Overall I think the property is in need of a bit of a refurb in some areas, but I really enjoyed it there in the end and wouldn't hesitate to return so long as we were staying in a newer room.

Room Tip: Stay away from the deluxe category

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Upgraded to Hibiscus suite which was extremely comfortable and well serviced. The restaurants and great and service impeccable. Made full use of all sports activities such as sailing lessons, archery etc which are all complementary.

The private island is great and the beach BBQ highly recommended

This is our 12th trip to this beautiful and special Island. It is our 6 th stay here at Touessrok including our honeymoon week.
We have 3 kids of 8,6 and 3. We made a big mistake by originally booking at a sister hotel in the group only because the kids friends from school were staying there. The stay at The sister hotel was one of the worst overall experiences we have had. EVER. WE moved to paradise Touessrock a week into our holiday.
Serves us right for not returning to a highly professional and well oiled slick operation run by a passionate team that we knew and trusted. This place is the quintessential paradise! Driven by a commitment to service and experience excellence.
All the staff and management want to do is please guests. And, boy oh boy this is what they do!
The hotel is well maintained and oiled. It is spotless and has character and class, understated elegance.Service is world class and the food is yummy and brilliantly presented by the large brigade of well trained and passionate chefs. The breakfasts are wow with fresh juice stations, bakery, cheese and fruit and well merchandised hot sections. Service is brilliant! Staff are happy and greet u by your family name. The manager on duty always checks on tables and they never let u even carry your meal to your own tables!
Our family is hooked on Indian food! The Indian restaurant started by a Michelin star chef I believe is pricy but well worth every cent. The decor and ambience is unique and world class. Service and experience nothing less than a 10 plus. Staff are amazing.
There is also a beach restaurant and great service by the pool.Foodtasty and service ditto.
Pool is also very kids friendly. There is also a beautiful luxurious pool by the Spa area which is very private and a stone throw away from the luxury spa and gym which had the latest new equipment available.

The resort is ideal for family's and couples who want a romantic holiday as there is a well equipped and professionally run kids club and baby sitting service. Besides the main pool area which is kids friendly the private pool by the spa as well as large parts of the beach are private and relaxing.

There is evening entertainment understandably lower key than summer time and ends a bit early. It is however enjoyable. In summertime they also have very tasteful fashion shows that support local industry's which we enjoy very much.

The hotel is a watersport fanatics paradise with it own islands with sports facilities, private beaches and amazing food.
Rooms very very comfy even with a pillow menu where u can choose from 7 different pillows. Each room/suite has the services of a private butler which is seconds away by phone. Beds very comfy. This is important for us! Well stocked mini bars and u feel like nothing less that being in heaven.
I could go on talking about this hotel for hours. This hotel is worth every cent u spend and it is a treat to stay here!
You won't be disappointed...........................only spoilt rotten!

Room Tip: Best rooms and suites on beach by main pool away from restaurants and very private. All rooms are ho...

We have only 1 day left of our 9 day stay in this truly terrific hotel, it really is difficult to imagine how anyone could not genuinely rate this hotel among the best anywhere in the world! From the 'pillow menu' to the choice of fragrance for the essential oil used in your room for bedtime, everything is a step beyond the fantastic!
The staff are without doubt the friendliest and most efficient we have experienced in many of the world's top hotels, we will not single out any particular one because we could honestly fill the page with personal recommendations of superb service. It would be remiss however if we did not mention Arshvin who was remarkable in his level of kindness and commitment to customer satisfaction of the very highest order, he knows why !!
Suffice to say , many thanks to every one who we met and who made our stay so memorable .
On this occasion we were accompanied by our eldest son, his wife and daughter and our youngest son and his girl friend, despite the age difference they would echo every word of the above.
We can't wait for our next visit.

Room Tip: We had an ocean view Junior Suite on Frangipani which was excellent

For the things money can't buy, you have Le Touessrok Resort. Right from the reception, the butlers, amazing world class food and the mind blowing time experienced on the two of mauritian nature's best kept treasures ; Ile aux Cerfs and Ilôt Mangénie will definitely take your breath away. The dedicated staff really make you feel special. Its got everything any tourist would wish for a perfect holiday.

My father in law kindly paid for my husband and I to stay at Le Touessrok for our honeymoon for a week. Wow, what a place! The service was superb, if not a little intimidating at times - they are VERY attentive here. The selection at meal times is mind-blowing, we were spoilt for choice and definitely put on a few kilos!
The hotel has everything - natural beauty, luxurious and endless facilities, activities, privacy, delicious food and drinks (drinks are very pricey) and you want for nothing.
One day I hope we will be able to return. What a treat!

Le Touessrok is a very nice hotel indeed, and I agree with a lot of what other guests have said about the hotel. I'll also give you my two cents:

Pick-up at airport:
We were picked up at the airport and were driven to the hotel. Worked like a dream. Refreshing towel is always welcome.

Check-in:
Worked perfectly well. We were seated on one of the sofas in the lobby and offered a drink while they ran through the formalities. Luggage went straight to the room, of course.

Hotel Complex:
My first negative comment. The hotel is very big. Thankfully we were there during low-season, but I can imagine that during high-season it will be very crowded. Notwithstanding this, all the communal areas looked welcoming and well maintained.

Service:
Friendly and attentive, but my goodness there was a lot of it. At some points it seemed like we were asked every five minutes whether everything was ok... In short, too much at times. But on the whole, very friendly and engaged. Everyone knew my name and room number, which was impressive.

Food:
We had dinner one night in the beach restaurant and one night in the Indian. Both very, very good. One downside (besides the price tag) is the entertainment. If it's on, that is all you will be able to pay attention to...

Drinks:
Nice but very, very expensive.

Concierge service:
Good! They helped us plan a day and it was very well done!

Tip:
Have lunch on the other island. You really feel like a castaway (with five star service, of course)

Room:
Nice! No special remarks.

Breakfast:
Very good (but again with the smothering service!)

Why my hesitation between 4.5 stars and 5 stars: Every now and again it reminded me of what I think a cruiseship would be like (never been, so can't say for sure). Lots of people in a limited amount of space. Somewhat cheesey entertainment and a captive audience so they can charge what they like for extras. Not the full 5 star experience.
