“Lovely, magical place! And good value for Mauritius.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We absolutely loved our three-night stay here. The hotel is small and lovely, with a pretty courtyard, well-designed rooms, and a nice spot on the beach with a prime sunset viewing location.

The rooms also have a decent-sized kitchenette, which enables you to cook your meals, which you can then eat on your own private balcony. Food and supplies can be bought at the small grocery store nearby (walk outside the hotel, make a right, and it will be on your left-hand side a few blocks down).

The hotel will lend you kayaks and paddle boats free of charge, which is fun. They also offered us complimentary 15-minute massages, which were great. I ended up getting a full body massage as well; the price is very reasonable. (Note that they don't have a full-sized spa, but rather a small room that's on the edge of the beach.)

We stayed in two places in Mauritius (this and Tamassa in Bel Ombre), and preferred this one. The only drawback for us was the restaurant, which we didn't like very much for dinner (though the breakfasts were excellent). You might also not like it if you're looking for a resort with more amenities, such as a bigger pool, a variety of water sports, or a gym. But if you're okay with not having access to that, and are looking for a more boutique flavor with more personalized attention, I can't recommend this more highly.

Pretty much perfect holiday accommodation, with wonderful huge bedrooms, big bathrooms with very good walk-in shower, dressing area & kitchen with fridge freezer and cooking facilities.
Can think of nothing even slightly bad to say about the rooms & gardens. The housekeeping, security & maintenance staff were all excellent in every way as well.
The beach in front of the hotel, with plenty of wooden sun loungers and big comfy pads/pillows for hotel guest use, was impressive and as a break from the sun the huge terraces/balconies fronting each room with their cane chairs, cushions and tables and dining chairs made a perfect escape from the sun.

Outside the gates of the hotel, was car parking. A few steps further down the road there is a supermarket, pizza place & fruit/vegetable stand. Bus stops were very close by and if you stood still on the pavement for more than a few seconds a taxi would be sure to stop to see if you wanted to go somewhere.

The hotel offers half board, but I would not recommend this option. If there is a let down at all at this hotel it is the dinners. Breakfast is fine, but whilst the food at dinner is not as bad as claimed by some reviewers, my one regret was committing ourselves to the half board option which served up some pretty mediocre food on several (or more) nights.

We met several people who where returning visitors and I can well understand why, my partner is already hassling me to book again for next year. A thoroughly great place to stay for a non-packaged & peaceful holiday.

Room Tip: Some non sea view rooms suffer from traffic noise. Walk onto the beach one evening to watch the fru...

Lovely hotel, fantastic sized rooms. Little kichenette and fridge etc a bonus. Beds are comfy, very clean and very comfortable in all. The beach is fantastic. Sheltered, good for swimming and just a short walk along the beach you can do done water sports. The hotel provide kayaks and pedals free of charge which we used too. Good fun!
I like the smallness of the hotel and staff were friendly. The restaurant was good although I found the menu a little limiting but that is probably because I am allergic to fish! My husband thought the choice was fine.
It's also great to have the lite supermarket literally a 2 min wk from the hotel to stock up on water and beers. The little pizza place right next door to the supermarket was excellent.
We got the bus into grand Baie a few times and ate there some evenings. You have to get a taxi back though as the buses stop at 8pm I think.
We would definitely return!!!!

We absolutely loved this hotel. Came across it by accident through our friends in Mauritius, and are so pleased.
The staff were amazing, the room was gorgeous and the perfect holiday.
They had no problem with our friends joining us on the beach and for breakfast and even allowed us a late checkout, therefore enjoying a full day on the beach.

The staff in the restaurant were great, engaging, and delightful.
Their restaurant food was very good (needed a little music for atmosphere), and more reasonably priced than some of the local restaurants we went to...

Very good value for money, and our preferred place to say in Mauritius now.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the seaview rooms, close to the beach and gorgeous sunsets

If you would like a room with a king bed facing the sea from your front doors, lovely kitchen and room upstairs for 2 children - this is the place. Also room cleaning twice a day and they are happy to help in anyway - very quiet beautiful place - omelettes at breakie are delish!

Room Tip: Ask for the deluxe room on the beach

This is a very beautiful trendy boutique hotel situated right on the fantastic Trou aux Biches beach. It is beautifully appointed with spacious rooms which are very well furnished and have very good facilities. The food is excellent and the staff superb. It has all you would expect from an upmarket resort hotel without the crowds and we would highly recommend a visit.
