“Lovely Hotel with Great Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We have just returned from a weeks holiday here and a great time.

I was very impressed with the hotel and the service they offered.

We had a standard room which I have to say was of a very high standard. It was large, spacious and airy with a wonderful concealed balcony overlooking the pool. The bathroom was also nice with a very powerful shower.

We stayed on an all inclusive basis and the food on offer in the hotel was of an average standard. Breakfast was probably my favourite meal with a large variety of food on offer, including cooked foodstuffs, cereals, continental meats and cheeses and a wide variety of fruits. On a couple of days at lunchtime we picked from a decent set menu, with generous portions on offer, on the other days it was a buffet. The dinner was always a buffet, which was mainly chinese or indian fare, which was fairly unspectacular.

The hotel has 3 pools, 1 restaurant and 2 bars, and I believe a nightclub, which is not my idea of fun so I cannot offer any information on it.

The hotel is superbly maintained and very attractive looking, and whilst I'm not the sort to stay within the hotel complex if you so desired I'm sure you would find it had everything you needed.

The entertainment offered at the hotel was mainly 2 people singing and playing instruments which was of a fairly good standard. However on one night there was some absolutley dreadful karaoke, which is as far removed as you can possibly get from something I enjoy, and I cannot think of any circumstances where this dreadful pastime is warranted. On the 14th Feb they tried to arrange some sort of play based on Romeo and Juliet which required the hotel guests participation, but no one was willing and the evening decended into misery when a highly inebriated woman took over procedings and was attempting to sing while a hotel staff member tried to cajole guests onto a makeshift dancefloor near the pool, where he was displaying some very curious snakelike moves.

I make a mention of this as our room was very near to the main bar where the entertainment took place, and I am a fairly unsociable individual who wouldn't partake in this sort of thing, but we could hear everything from our room even when the door was closed. However it only went on until 11 o clock and it is a holiday so it wasn't a major bother.

I feel the service on offer sets this hotel apart, and the staff were great, always very friendly and approachable. They really did make all the difference.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of staying and unsure of whether to book, and I would definatley stay again

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the fantastic Trou aux Biches beach, which is easily the nicest beach I have ever been to!!!! Also there are supermarkets very close by and I believe restautrants, though I cant comment on these as I didnt sample them.

Overall a really lovely hotel with good facilities and great staff.

Room Tip: Rooms away from restaurant and main bar as this is where the entertainment takes place, though only...

My husband and i stayed here for 3 weeks in November with Mercury direct who offer very good value for money. If you book 2 weeks all inclusive you get a 3rd week free on Room only. We had never been to Mauritius before but we did our homework before we came and knew what we were getting, even so the island, it's people and this hotel surpassed all of our expectations.

Mauritius is a very beautiful place, famous for it's stunning beaches and luxury hotels, unfortunately some people pay for a 3 star hotel and expect 5 star luxury ! This hotel is a very good 3 star, it is clean, comfortable, quiet and very relaxing with the best hotel manager i have ever met, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very special.

We have stayed all over the world in some very luxurious hotels but we found this small hotel which is only a 5 minute walk from the nearest beach, supermarket and restaurants the most relaxing we have ever stayed in.

The food and drinks on the all inclusive package were very good quality and there was plenty of choice and variety, there was entertainment 6 nights a week with either a local duo singing or some karaoke. Entertainment was quite low key day and evening which suited the size of the hotel and us. Although families are very welcome here there is absolutely nothing here for children, it really is a couples kind of place.

There are 3 small pools not really big enough for swimming but great for cooling off, they have nice comfy sunbeds with plenty of shade and there are plenty to go round. You can go to the nearest beach which is lovely but you will pay about £10 per couple to hire beds for the day.

We had the option to pay to upgrade to all inclusive for the 3rd week but decided to get out and about and eat in the local restaurants instead, it was a much cheaper option and you can walk for 5 minutes and have a choice of about 10 restaurants on the main road ( our favourite was la marmite ) two courses and a few drinks each cost about £20 for two people.

One last tip, don't book your excursions with your rep in the hotel, they are double what you can pay for exactly the same trip with the local travel agent a short walk after turning right out of the hotel.

We loved our stay here and would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Rooms nearest to the reception are bigger and quieter

rooms at this property are with basic amenities.not ideal for honeymoon couple, would suggest indian resort , casuarina for them for budget and family traveler iits good property also in peak period they charge for minimum 6 to 7 nights which is very disappointing and kind of compulsion. Property management should value guest.requiement.

My Wife and I went to Mauritius for 3 weeks holiday in November with Mercury Travel which I strongly recommend. We had a great holiday at the Le Palmiste Hotel ...First of all we would like to mention Sashi the hotel manager , who was a very hands on manager , forever present around the hotel to assist, advise and help to insure our stay was a happy experience . He was always very polite and smiling. This very peaceful and pretty hotel with its beautiful and well kept gardens, swimming pools, and restaurant , was a delight for us . Our room was kept spotless and smelling sweet at all times by a lovely lady named Pratima Russom .A Big Thank you to all the Staff who made our holiday a holiday to remember ! ! At 11pm the entertainment stopped and revellers taken to another part of the hotel so that those of us that wanted to sleep could do so in peace ! We strongly recommend this hotel . . .We are well travelled ,and very satisfied with our stay .

We stayed here for 10 days and It was great, we arrived a day earlier than booked but this was not a problem we were offered a drink whilst they sorted the changes out. check in was smooth and easy, throughout our stay the hotel tried to make us feel at home with various activities like the Sega cultural dance, games etc.

Nice place to stay

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

We were in this hotel for a week in July 2012.

We reached Hotel at around 1:00pm local time, they greeted us with a tasty juice and made us very comfortable. I thought that we would have to spend an hour or so in the reception only as the check-in time was at 2:00pm but as soon as we were finished with the juice they took us to the room, well before check-in time :) .

Room was as expected, had everything we needed including a balcony with a table with two chairs. We could see the swimming pool, spa and trees from the room, overall it was a good view. But my wife wanted a beach view from the balcony so she was a little disappointed, but anyways we liked it. Cleanliness was good in the room, but the floor used to be a bit moist many a times. We had a small problem in W.C., it was attended and resolved in minutes.

Restaurant had great ambiance, music was good, there was a dance performance by a group on one evening, veg food was excellent but tried non-veg a day and did not like it much. Restaurant staff was very soft spoken and friendly and almost everyone knew Hindi so preferred talking to us in Hindi only. The main chef came to table everyday just to ask if we liked the food and if we have any special requests for the next day.
There was a very cute cat in the restaurant, it did not trouble us by any means but waited beside our table quietly till we gave it some food.

As we were honeymooners, I was expecting something special in the package like candle light dinner, a visit to spa etc. but till last day but two there was nothing like this, so I had asked for the printout of the the package we were booked for, by our agent. No one gave it to me but on the second last day I got a call from reception that I am entitled for a candle light dinner and a bottle of wine that day. I was surprised but not sure how did that happened. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our candle light dinner and the dance performance on the same day.

On the last day, we decided to go to spa for massage. we went for booking and came to know that spa is closed on Sundays. But the employee over there immediately agreed to come early in the morning for the massage. So generous of her. Not only that she also gave us some discount on the prices.

Overall, it was a great experience in the hotel.
The only thing we missed was a beach in the hotel, rest was just perfect.
