“Lovely Lux Le Morne”

We found ourselves dispatched to Le Morne instead of the Belle Mare which apparently bumped our group because of overbooking. Although this disruption was annoying and involved an unwelcome extra set of packing and unpacking plus an unscheduled bus trip the length of the island there were many compensations in our stay at the best hotel of our 16 day tour.

Lux Le Morne turned out be the best hotel of our stay. We were very impressed with the high quality of everything we experienced. Our accommodation was luxurious and a few steps from the long sandy beach. The restaurant had massive choice for both breakfast and dinner and the beach restaurant a la carte was also very good indeed. Staff were always attentive and considerate and our overall experience was perfect. Such high standards do not just happen and the hotel is extremely well managed.

My Husband and I stayed at Lux le Morne from 7 - 19th Jan. We ended up here by default as the other hotel (Belle Mare) was over booked. 'Thank goodness' is all I can say. From arrival to departure, our stay was perfect. We arrived early morning and were advised that check-in was not until 2pm, went for a coffee and returned to reception to be advised we had been upgraded to a superior suite (room 161) as it was ready. Fantastic...very roomy with wet room area, outdoor shower, extremely large comfy bed, outside seating area and a double sun lounger. Direct access to the beach from our patio doors, perfect. We were all inclusive (highly recommended) but had the options of fabulous buffets or table service at the Thai restaurant or The Beach. The service was first class at all times, wether visiting the bar or popping for a quick magnum at the pool, we were greeted by extremely polite, well trained staff at all times. We were well looked after by all, but must mention a couple of staff who were very attentive and made our stay most enjoyable, so thanks to Preetam in The Kitchen and Sobrina in the bar and the lovely young lady in the bar with no name tag who has just returned to the hotel in the last month( sorry, can't remember your name, but you know who you are) Rocco, you should be proud of your team, and may I say how refreshing it was to see a manager who shows his face so much....Thank you.

Beautiful clear swimming beach right in front of our suite. Three very nice swimming pools with bars at the pool edge. Superb Cappuccino's, they were really terrific. The food was not great, probably three star standard, not enough variety, not freshly cooked, not enough cheese selection, not enough on the plate ... The service was even worse, nice friendly people, but to get served was not always easy and not what we would expect from a 5 star hotel at all, anywhere in the world. It was obvious that they did not have sufficient waitrons and those they had were not able to to see to your needs. The rooms were OK although having stayed in many suites all over the world this one had to be the smallest and most unlike a suite we have stayed in - really a small room with an outside terrace with a roof. Getting your room made up was a challenge as sometimes they would arrive at around 3.30 only after a phone call to make up the room. Really shocking I would say for the prices they charge. Reasonable boats (sadly no Hobie Cats) pedal boats and canoes and a great kite surfing shop right next door added to the fun. Would we go back? Out of a group of 5, we all said no, for those prices one can get far better in Mauritius which we have succeeded in doing for the last 9 visits we have made to the island. Pity as that beach is a winner but the service is a loser.

Dear srflkwf,

I am certainly concerned that you did not enjoy LUX* Le Morne. All guest comments do matter a lot to us as we aim at pleasing All. I take on board the variety and as a matter of fact we are revising our practices daily. But I can assure you that food is freshly cooked at any given time, concerning the cheeses variety I appreciate your comment, but we are in the middle of the Indian Ocean and we find we would not help the environment by shipping lots of cheeses accross the oceans. Our main restaurant being a buffet one, one may refill his plate as many time as wished.
I would love our maids to be able to finish the rooms servicing by 11 am, but as we allow 45 minutes to properly clean a room, and our maids are assigned 8 rooms to clean daily, it is correct that occasionally a room will last be serviced at 3 pm. We apply a roster to ensure the service time will vary equally among the 8 rooms. By all means we happily make special arrangements when required.
But don't get me wrong, we take full responsibility for any failure our guests may perceive and we make every effort to get it corrected. So I thank you for your review;

Had a rest in this hotel from January, 16 till January, 29th. An excellent beach. Excellent kitchen. The polite and attentive personnel. Good numbers

My wife and i had a very romantic celebration of our 21st anniversary, location and scenery is first class and true to the photos, very well cared for by in general, synchronizing of room service between meals was first class, the staff are kind and pleasant, facilities are clean,food selection and quality great, ate to much though! We live in Mauritius and have visited several hotels, Lux le Morne would have to be our favorite choice.
We recommend you stay there.

We travel a lot with our 3 1/2 year old son, but it's not often that he would rather be at mini club than with his mum and dad! The mini club at Lux Le Morne was incredible! Open early in the morning until 10 pm! He ate all of his dinners there (and they are more than happy to order what your child likes) with his friends and the lovely staff who run the place like a big family. They take them boating and swimming; they play tennis and soccer, do arts and crafts and games and just relax with a movie after dinner while waiting for mum and dad. We are so grateful to Annabelle, Sabrina, Jenny, Cindy and Sonia. They truly made our holiday special and we hope to see them all again next year.

My wife & I stayed here for 7 nights!!
Prior to our departure the weather forecast was very grim... However we were fortunate to have hot sunny weather for the majority of our trip..The location is breathtaking and the service was excellent (Vicky & Alan in particular), the food is delicious with a wide variety to satisfy all tastes! There are a number of activities to do and if you fancy visiting other parts of the island, the staff at the hotel can arrange this for you...one thing not to miss is the hike of the Le Morne Mountain... Although it requires an early start and is hard work... The views at the top are sensational!
The only downside of our holiday was that our stay had to end... 7 nights in paradise! Excellent for couples and families with children!!
