“MY VISIT TO LUX LE MORNE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

A last minute decision to go to Mauritius I decided to try the Lux Le Morne, I was so pleasantly surprise to experience 3 great days at this resort which i find to be in one of the best part of this beautiful Island. The service was excellent , the Staff very welcoming just like only Mauritius can do, the food very pleasant but could be improved on with more selection, the beach beautiful white sand and well kept and clean, the room i stayed in was absolutely perfect with a fair view of the beach.

Room Tip: Please make sure to request a room on the ground floor with sea view.

We stayed 14 nights for honeymoon and it was pure bliss. Pay extra for all inclusive - it is worth it and stay in an upstairs, deluxe room (they are more secluded than a suite and you get a beautiful view from the balcony). It was lovely to have breakfast on the balcony. The Italian restaurant on the beach was divine. Water sports facilities were good. My husband learnt how to wakeboard. Relaxing in the spa with the mountainous backdrop was surreal. We will definitely return.

Dear Bella 2424,
Great name!
Thank you for your review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at LUX* Le Morne;
Did you know that the Deluxe rooms are called "Honeymoon Junior Suites" ?, you are right they are very special, including the bay window overlooking the beach from your Jaccuzzi !
Now that your husband learned how to wakeboard, the next thing if you agree is to teach him Kite Surfing at our Flight school when you return; exhilarating stuff
See you soon and all the best.

After a quite long trip from Europe we arrived in Heaven. Taken care of from the very first moment and it continued the whole stay in this beautiful hotel. Staff is smiling all the time. Service is the best we experienced so far. Location wonderful. There are enough activities offered to be busy for 2 weeks. Every day different food bufet and each of them very tasty and well prepared.
If you have the money - go for it and do not forget All inclusive packet ;-)

My wife and I spent 11 days at this beautiful hotel. We stayed in September to October taking advantage of weather which was warm but not overly hot. The hotel was running at around 75 percent capacity and so we benefitted from a quiet beach and hotel generally. In short, this was the best holiday we have ever had! We were traditional honeymooners looking for pure relaxation, peace and quiet. At the same time we wanted luxury and did not want to be disturbed by other hotel stayers. Lux le morne ensured our boxes were ticked on all fronts.

We were upgraded to a sea view room prestige suite upon arrival. The rooms are like mini villas. There was no noise whatsoever from neighbours above or either side. The construction of these villas is great. The decor is inviting, mood enhancing and clean. The outside shower and lights is a particularly nice feature. We had our own terrace with comfortable bed outside. The room service was brilliant with a twice a day service. my wife liked the lux products in the room. the bed was extremely comfortable. You can organise the hotel to provide you with a romantic meal for two (free for us as we were honeymooners) and at the end of the evening they will decorate the room with flower petals. Very nice if you want to impress your new wife!

Breakfast is simply brilliant. With pancakes to English breakfast to fruit available. We were really surprised with the offering in this regard. We have stayed in other five stars where the buffet tends to be let down. This buffet is unbelievably good. Fresh, stylish and filling!

We went half board (and would recommend this option as you eat so much at breakfast you cannot possibly cram a big lunch in as well). Dinner buffet again was amazing. We were reluctant to have a buffet expecting it to be cheaply done. This was NOT the case. It was again amazing. The fresh fish made by the chef in front of you was particularly beautiful. Again, this buffet was unexpected. We can't say enough good things about the food. You are bound to find something you like or love.

The service was brilliant as well. Mannie who is the honeymoon coordinator was superb and I cannot praise her enough. She is attentive and very good with all hotel stayers. She made part of our holiday as she was just very well organised and accommodating. Especially when we missed our complimentary meal! our fault! We can't praise Mannie enough.

All hotel workers were brilliant. Very attentive, respectful and genuinely willing to help. Working in paradise must have that effect!

If you are looking for good weather at this time of the year I would recommend this area. We met others staying on another side of the island nearer Belle Mare. They informed the weather was very rainy. Apparently le morne gets the best weather.

Before travelling we viewed the many comments on trip adviser and formed a positive view of lux. Upon arrival, our thoughts were confirmed and surpassed. if you are looking for the perfect honeymoon stay here! Ps do the free bike ride. Go to the le morne village where the view of the ocean is amazing. On the way there you can see or practice kite surfing!

You cannot go wrong at this hotel!

We stayed on business at lux le morne for 4 days. The hotel has beautiful beaches & an amazing backdrop of the mountain. The staff are some of the best I have come across with a great management team in charge. It's peaceful idyllic location is breathtaking. Plenty of none motorised water sports at the hotel complimentary with great snorkelling in the Reef & an abundance of tropical fish. Lots of places to visit close by & I recommend Casela which has many activities from walking with lions to the highest zip wire on the island & muc more. or just enjoy the luxury of this resort & relax. I recommend the hotel for couples, honeymoons & small incentive groups but not for someone looking to party. Enjoy ! *****

A lovely hotel located to the south west on the island. It takes about an hour to reach from the airport. The taxi company we booked never turned up, so we took a taxi from the airport which was paid in euros, but on our return journey we paid in local currency MRU rupees. We decided to treat the hotel as a rest. as we'd done so much in Reunion Island.

Arriving to the Hotel which was gated, we were let in a by security. Our bags were whisked away from us and we never saw them till we reached our room; good service! We were taken into the reception, which is wooded and open, looking out to the sea across a pool and served a cool non alcoholic drink. The receptionist was exceptional and spoke good English. The staff generally speak French, English, Spanish, German & Creole.

We were taken to our suite, room 101 - gorgeous! Large standing bath, outdoor and indoor shower, separate toilet, very large bed, and doors which open out to the Oasis pool to the right and the sea ahead which you were there on the beach within 4 seconds! The Oasis pool is a natural pool whereas the other pool was treated with chlorine,. We preferred the natural pool. 7

The food quality was very good. There was a choice of various foods at the 3 restaurants every night. The larger restaurant called The Kitchen which held a theme with the complementing food. If you choose the restaurant which was not part of your half board, then there would be a supplement. The bar had a great choice of cocktails as well as the daily cocktail, and a list of wines. There were a couple of cats around us whilst eating, and as a cat lover I have no issue with them. I would though as a hotel, feed them at a time when guests are not eating.

The beach was cleaned every morning, and in the morning you could help yourself to beach towels. One thing that was annoying for me, was seeing towels on the sunbeds closet to the sea at around 730am every morning. It made me think of the '70's and certain countries doing exactly that.

We thoroughly enjoyed the diving, and did so for 4 of our mornings, the last being our favourite at St Jacques. There was a choice of 2 dives, with the morning dive being for the more experienced. Run by Emmanule who is very organised, he has a good team behind him. If you've not dived yet, this is a good location for the introduction or qualify open water.
Personally, hearing about the option to swim with live dolphins did not appeal to us. Keep them wild is my view.

We thoroughly enjoyed movie night which we saw on the Tuesday, sat outside on bean bags or the sunbeds watching Dirty Dancing, eating popcorn. You can pay around 1500 MRU rupees about £30, for a bonfire or bonfire with food which costs more on the beach. We choose the former, and sat and watched the flames and had a few drinks. Nothing can ever match that. If you're a keen star gazer, you are in for a treat.

We had a couple treatments at the Spa and the girls were all friendly. Treated with Lux's own products, they had list of options of treatments, thankfully no hard sale at the end of the treatment. There is a well maintained gym with personal trainers and nutritionist's on site. If you were wanting a more diet controlled holiday, I'm sure they would accommodate.

A great few days which I had hoped to have won the lottery (don't we all) to have stayed longer. I've not not marked the value as it was booked for me, but we had half board. Would I return, I think I would for all times sake, but I would return to Mauritius to do more the next time.

Dear LD_Traveller00
Thank you very much for this most detailed review; a great source of useful informations for the site visitors. I am very pleased that you enjoyed LUX* Le Morne; time is precious and we are dedicated to making sure that every moment that matters to you will be enjoyable and will enrich your collection of fine moments.
May I clarify here that all our 3 restaurants are opened to the half board with no supplement except a few “luxury” items and the special nights; I hope our people gave you adequate information - and I will review with the Team . We have made some notes to the guests asking not to feed the cats; we do give them dinner in the back of the house, but I guess they take it as a supper as they only come after midnight; something on our agenda to manage.
I do appreciate your respectful position concerning the dolphins; it is very strange though that they seem to enjoy the company as they play around till they decide to go offshore for their daily feeding of tuna (the area where the swim takes place is not a feeding area).
Thanks again and we hope to see you soon (as they say in France: 100% of lottery winners are …lottery players , so …)
With best regards,
