Overall an excellent hotel. In the absolute best part of Mauritius, with some of the world's best kitesurfing, scuba diving and snorkeling just minutes away. The nature is simply stunning, the beach is pristine and well-kept, the hotel facilities are extremely new and up to date, and the architecture and interior design of the place are nothing but wonderful.
The food deserves special mention. Every restaurant serves only the freshest food, prepared in simple but expert ways, and the restaurants are numerous and substantially different from each other, so it never occurs to you that you are in fact dining in a resort every night. Le Manoir is one of the most impressive hotel dining experiences that we have ever had - simple, fresh, expertly prepared, delicious.
Service issues are indeed there but as pointed out in other reviews, this is an issue with junior staff (and not with more senior staff who were indeed excellent). Having bummed around a number of tropical beaches, and having nothing but love and appreciation for this extraordinary island, we do have to admit that service is, well, Mauritian. People could not give a damn sometimes. But that is part of the charm of the island, and if you preempt their attitude with some clever maneuvering and some clever tipping, then everything works. Butler service also gets special mention - all the guys were excellent and helpful.
Tip: try the wild dolphin swim, and go around 6 am. This is a once in a lifetime experience.
We will be coming back to this resort, for sure.
Junior suite close to Le Manoir, or Grand Suite. But no such thing as a bad room in this resort.
