“A classy hotel experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

My husband, two year old daughter and i had been to Maritim hotel for three days on an all-inclusive package and i can say that it was a tremendously relaxing and enjoyable experience. The hotel has breathtaking views with the river and the turquoise sea waters but what was even more awe-inspiring to me was the convergence of both! The hotel compound is so immense that three days were not enough to visit the whole of Maritim estate! Lots of day-time entertainment and activities-you can even go for hiking within the hotel premises, with picturesque sights of the Citron river, the waterfall and of course the Balaclava ruins. Had a wonderful time doing watersports activities, much of which are free of charge. Great variety of continental food available in the hotel restaurants, however, i was a little bit disappointed with the selection of desserts: many of the pastries were repeated over the meals! room was o.k, quite spacious and simple (we went for standard room). could do with some colours however as i found it too bland and traditional to my taste. Hotel staff was ok too, though i found many of the staff members friendlier and more considerate towards foreign guests than with the local ones. They seem more than ever willing to help you if you are a foreigner than if you are a Mauritian. However, a big thanks goes to Meghduth of Belle Vue Restaurant to have been so helpful and to have catered to every of our needs. My baby had a delightful time at maritim especially at the lovely pool but unfortunately, there was no kids' pool as such and so my husband and i always had to keep a close watch on her. on the whole, we loved our stay at Maritim and would gladly recommend it! P.S Night-time entertainment was regrettably boring at Belle Vue!

Room Tip: Go for all-inclusive package as you can order a variety of drinks/beverages and snacks at the pool b...

Apart from a flight time of nearly 12 hours each way this holiday was quite fabulous. The hotel and staff could not be faulted. Our room was all that could be hoped for; roomy, very well furnished and appointed and with a good view of the sea. The staff were extremely polite, welcoming & helpful at all times. Having 5 restaurants to choose from meant there was no problem with the food - it was all consistently excellent. The facilities available were first class and catered for all tastes. Our tour representative was also very good and ensured all was going smoothly. Our only disappointment was that it rained almost all the time on the day we had booked an organised tour to see some of the beauty spots of the island. Needless to say we didn't see much of them. But that apart the weather was perfect. Blue skies, blue sea and a sandy beach.
It's only a small gesture but when we departed the hotel managers lined up to bid us farewell.
Whether you are looking for a holiday relaxing on a very comfortable sun-lounger, on the beach, under a palmleaf-shade or pursuing a large variety of water sports or other activities this is the hotel for you.

Holiday did not start well as we flew with Air Mauritius, which was awful. The seats are tiny with no leg room and the TV is not much bigger than my watch!! The available films was disgraceful and so the 12 hours felt like 112!!!! However, once we landed in Mauritius and arrived at the hotel, our holiday began and we never looked back.

The staff (each and every one of them) were happy and interested and could not do enough to help. The rooms, restaurants and all the activities available were of the highest quality. There was plenty of choice in the restaurants and the food was consistently high in taste, quality and presentation.

The sports facilities were good and worth trying regardless of age, sex or experience.

I would honestly say I would return to this hotel again and I can't recommend the hotel strongly enough. Just use another airline!!!!

A fantastic holiday in a beautiful hotel, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was great and there was a good choice of restaurants. The water sports such as water skiing and wake boarding were fantastic and all included. Once again the boat boys were really helpful, we had no complaints at all only that we would have loved to have stayed longer. We will definitely return to this great island and hotel.

The Warne family.

We were a party of six staying from 7th March 2013 till 14th March 2013. Our friends were very dissatisfied with their accommodation and were eventually upgraded. We were satisfied with the accommodation. The food was satisfactory, although lacking in flavour and imagination. The service was a little slow, although I would like to point out certain staff members, Ashven Carponen (bar), Teelesh (bar), Yashine (beach boy) and the waiter at the top of our list is Mozahir (beach boy and pool boy) who was at the top of his game from beginning to end. The restaurant staff we found to be very dour with hardly a smile (as if they were doing you the greatest of favours).
After these few observations we found the hotel on a whole probably of a 3* rather than the 5* as advertised.

My main reason for this post is to bring to your attention the happenings of the day before our leaving, 13th March 2013. We had spent a wonderful day on the beach, lunched at La Maree and then decided to take out a boat. My husband returned to the room around 14.30h, only to find that the room had not been made up, this he found strange and it was normally made up in the morning. Being in a hurry, he put his carry bag into the cupboard which contained Euro 400 and R500 and Rs100. On hindsight he realises he should have put the money in the safe but after having a relaxing holiday with never a reason to worry about theft. We returned to our room at 17.00h, lying on the bed was our final bill (which actually wasn't ours and had been given to us in error) and on inspection realised the money had been taken from the bag, we searched the room and then contacted reception. While waiting for security to get to our room, my husband found Rs 50 lying on the table next to his bed, under the bed he found R50 note. This pointed that possibly the thief had been interrupted, asked what they were doing and left a bill on the bed as an excuse, which wasnt our bill.

Security arrived along with the night manager. Tests were done on the locks, a quick look through the room, my husband wrote out a statement and also left our email address. We had booked a dinner at La Maree that evening, on our way through the reception, the manager Olivier told us that the staff that had cleaned our room had already left for the day and would only be interrogated the following day when they returned to work. I am not sure if the cleaning staff were responsible for bringing our bill and cleaning the room, or if there had been more parties involved. We were told that we would be contacted as to the recourse. I sent three emails after the incident and was only answered a month later. I wonder how often this sort of thieving happens. When we were finally contacted, the response was that they couldn't find any proof that their staff had been involved, in other words the were saying that we were lying! Basically the hotel "washed its hands" of the whole incident. Beware there are THIEVES amongst you!!!
For those of you that enjoy to snorkel, dont be misled by the beautiful photos, the water was dirty and it is impossible to snorkel infront of the hotel, its a cemetry of broken coral and no sealife.

We had our honeymoon at the Maritim. It's such a romantic place, we were treated like royalty as soon as we walked in, and that continued for the full two weeks we were there.

The rooms are superb with sea views, roll top bath, walk in shower, the biggest bed you can imagine! As we were honeymooners, we were treated to flowers and fresh fruit in our room, rose petals on the bed.

We were all inclusive, and we wanted for nothing. We paid for a private dining experience, where we had a romantic dinner on the Pier, it was magical. There is a beach restaurant where you sit a night a eat, drink and relax in front of the fire pit, while watching the biggest Bat's you ever seen, and watch crabs walking up the beach.

The only negative is the beach, it's full of sharp coral and not very good sand.

Highly recommended!

We have just returned from 4 nights at the Maritim which was the end of our honeymoon. Overall the hotel and facilities were excellent, the room in particular was fantastic (we were upgraded to a Privilege room).

We used the hotel stables twice and being able to ride a swimming horse in the sea was a fabulous, once in a lifetime experience. The horses are all ex racehorses and not the usual nags found in a riding stables in the UK!

The Maree restaurant was the 1 we used the most mainly because it did not have the number of children that there were in the main one. In fact our only gripe was the number of children there and because of this we would not recommend this hotel for honeymooners (other couples we spoke to agreed with this view). Maybe outside school holidays the situation is different but we can only comment on what it was like when we were there.

Also at this time of year the pool was very cold and would benefit from being heated. Hardly anybody was in the pool because of this.

The activities available at this hotel are extensive, particularly the watersports.

We ate at Le Chateau Mon Desir once which was a honeymoon gift from the hotel. However drinks were chargeable and the cheapest bottle of wine was £48, be warned!

Overall we would recommend this hotel for families wishing to have a more upmarket type of holiday.
