“A sublime experience on Turtle Bay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

Sublime understated luxury. We have traveled all over the world and this hotel is truly extraordinary.

For romance, the beach villa cannot be beat. It was a luxurious nest to refresh our spirits and definitely worth the splurge. Private pool, private jetpool, spa bathroom... lots of beautiful places to lounge... gorgeous beach...what more can you ask for?

The food was delicious and well presented. The desserts were delicate and subtly flavored. Don't miss the dessert buffet on the weekends! The small portions ensure you can taste test everything.

The spa is amazing. I've never seen a hydro pool like this. It has a little waterfall to massage your shoulders, jets to massage your legs... Not to be missed.

All in all, this resort was a glorious treat. It made us feel glamorous and special, relaxed and in awe of the beauty of the area.

Having visited Mauritius several times on business and pleasure, I can say that Angsana Balaclava is one the most pleasant and unique hotels that I have ever visited. The service is irreproachable and once again confirms that Mauritian hospitality is one of the best in the world.

Food: The food is excellent! The executive chef has reached a perfect balance in pleasing many different taste buds. The menu is different everyday and caters to Europeans, Asians as well as Vegetarians.

Pool: I love how the hotel managed to integrate a sandy beach with a sea water pool. Quite a unique concept as it is the first time I have encountered one. It is perfect for those who dislike swimming in the ocean due to various phobias.

Spa: Every visitor must go to the spa as it has a very beautiful hydrotherapy pool. It contains all sorts of waterjets, waterfalls and bubbles that will massage your body

Poolbar: You must have lunch at least once while there and make sure you sit in the area with the submerged chairs which allow you to have lunch in the pool. It is so much fun!

Room: The room was beautifully designed! We stayed in a ground floor beach villa. The bathroom contains a bath tub made of carved solid rock and a steam shower! Not to mention that the bathroom has a beautiful entrance which leads directly into the private pool and jacuzzi. This proved to be extremely convenient. In addition, what better than waking up every morning to the sound of waves and to a beautiful seaview. The room is also fully equipped with a coffee machine and comes with complimentary bottled water. If one is looking for privacy, you should ask for the upper level as it provides better privacy (although the pool is slightly smaller).

Overall, this is a very well thought out and designed hotel. I highly recommend it and will come back again!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the beach villa and you will not regret it! It comes with a seaview and priva...

My wife and I spent the week end at the beach suite and we were so delighted. We were right on the beach with a stunning sea view during sunset while relaxing in the private pool. The huge bath tub made of rock is like a piece of art in the bathroom. What a pleasure!
The friendliness and professionalism of the hotel staff is remarkable and we also enjoyed the huge variety of food served during breakfast and supper. Bravo to the chef!
Thanks again for making our stay so enjoyable.
i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wish to have a pleasant stay in Mauritius

From our arrival at the Hotel entrance of the Angsana Balaclava, our perfect holiday began.
Our garden suite, which had also a sea view, was something to behold. Modern, upmarket furnishings, spotlessly clean, with attention to detail evident at every turn. The king size bed just guaranteed a perfect nights sleep. Even down to the daily fresh fruit in the room and fresh flowers, set out on the bed.
The two pools, one fresh water, in a garden setting with lots of day beds for relaxing in the shade. The other pool with a sandy edge, with salt purification, which leaves your skin feeling so soft, are all set out with rolled up soft towels, supervised by the pool and beach attendant Brian.
We really looked forward to go to the restaurant. The Highly trained, inspirational chefs, produce a daily menu which caters very well for all the differing nationalities, with excellently presented and stunningly delicious food. The lunch cafe, has seating both on the sand, or set out in shallow water.
The beach facilities are situated on a perfectly manicured private beach, with caring trained staff to assist and teach the use of the various, mostly free, water sport facilities.
All this said about a very beautiful, tranquil, hotel, set in stunning scenery, is nothing without the staff, who deliver perfection!
How may hotels have you been to where the General Manager, Ruud and his Assistant Man. Khamiesh goes out of their way to solicit your opinions. Preetum, Restrurant Manager, delivers such a delightful, calm, well run, professional, personal service, right down to greeting you by name, as do almost all the other staff. Ramesh also exceptionally worthy of praise. We could go on almost about every staff member, as this is the work ethic that they all go by.
Our very grateful thanks, for making our stay in Mauitius just exceptional.
As well as 5 stars, it merits our 4 P's....Peaceful, Pampered, Perfect and Professional !!!

I went to Angsana last weekend and stayed in the beach suite. I have only 1 word to say " Stunning! " . The hotel is perfect for couples and families. The environment is quiet, remote, relaxing and the service amazing.

The Angsana Balaclava is in my opinion quite simply fantastic.

Starting with it's location: It is far enough from any village to give you the (accurate) feeling of beeing out in the beautiful mauritian nature (you won't hear any noise apart from the waves of the sea) and yet it takes just a 15-20 minute drive to be in the middle of the lively capital city Port Louis. The hotel is situated right on the beach, fantastic views from your terrace and sunsets included.

The hotel is rather small which is perfect for anyone who doesn't like big crowds and feeling like a mass tourist. I guess you could call it a boutique hotel, all it's rooms are suites of unbelievable quality (since we were there quite early, we got the chance of seeing different rooms). Very spacious, top quality furniture, lovely bathrooms (which actually feel more like little spas than just bathrooms). And if you can manage to get either a Seafront Suite or a Spa Suite, you will get your own private pool! Perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring the island.

The different restaurants are very good too, serving a well balanced mixture of kreol (local mauritian), asian, indian and european/western food of excellent quality.

The staff is just excellent, friendly nearly beyond belief, well informed, very competent and anticipatory. Sometimes they seemed to know what we wanted almost before we did ourselves.

If you feel like relaxing and enjoying the sun, you've got the beach and the sea right in front of your room as well as two swimming pools, one fresh water, one salt water (actually three pools, counting the private one on your terrace) and the beautiful Spa.

Should you feel more explorative and adventurous, you can either still stay at the hotel and take advantage of the (free) bike rides, snorkeling/boating tours or other water sport facilities. Or you can take one of the taxis waiting by the hotel and explore this fantastic tropic island. These taxis are in close contact to the hotel management and know the island like the back of they're hand. For fixed and very reasonable fees, they'll show you whatever you like to see and will act as your private driver all day long (shopping, nature, cities, you name it)!

Bearing in mind that the hotel had only been open for about a month when we stayed there and will certainly have improved even more by now, I can absolutely recommend it to everyone who is looking for a top class hotel in Mauritius. Should I spend another holiday in Mauritius, I know where I would stay.

Room Tip: Try to get either a Seafront Suite or Spa Suite since they both feature a fantastic private pool.
