The Peter Whitmer cabin is the place where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was formally organized on April 6, 1830 by Joseph Smith. It has been rebuilt on its original location. The tour starts in the visitors center in the adjacent building. There are many pieces of original church art to view. The cabin is small and it would have been tight on that day to have over 50 people in there for the originization meeting. They have done a good job restoring it to it to the time period and the tour guide told us some interesting facts about the time period and the family that once resided there.
