“A country jewel in the heart of America's largest Nature Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

We loved this place, and appreciated the gracious welcome (and breakfasts!) from Steve and Sandi, in a beautiful country house hidden in the woods a few miles from a small town. Set in the heart of the magnificent Adirondack Nature Park, our cozy room overlooked over the river, where I wouldn't have been surprised to spot an otter. We especially enjoyed our rainy day trip to the Wild Centre, worth the drive through the enormous woodlands of the park. A good place to get away from the busyness of city life and listen to the sounds of Nature in comfort.

We have been enjoying this B & B for 10 years and ALWAYS come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!. Sandi and Steve are top rate hosts and we always find fellow guests to be interesting and very friendly themselves. Outstanding location on the banks of the upper Hudson River and it is truly a scenic location and the no children, no pets rule makes for solitude.

Steve and Sandi are two of the most kind souls you will ever meet. Their home is ideally tucked away from all of the chaos of your day to day activities, but conveniently located close to Lake George Villiage. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated being able to stay at a clean and quiet vacation spot that was reasonably priced.

I can unequivocally say that Steve & Sandi provided the most heart felt hospitality & friendship I have experienced in many years. This B&B overlooking the Hudson River and Adirondack Mountains provides you with renewed energy and lasting memories. Kudos to the two of you! I look forward to many more starry nights and crystal clear balsam scented days at Country Road Lodge.

Country Road Lodge is a real "find." Stay with a delightful couple in their cozy home on the Hudson River. They are part of the fabric of hisoric Warrensburg; Sandi is the official Town Historian. They are friendly, knowledgable, easy going and Steve makes the best French toast! The breakfasts are delicious and hearty; good conversation among the guests is encouraged. The rooms are clean with comfortable furniture, some antique, and a wonderful collection of books on the Adirondacks. No tv or internet, thank goodness! Many guests return regularly. My sister and I stayed in the autumn of 2009 and hope to return soon. The drive is down a fairly long, dark road. But when you return after dinner in the dark, park your car, and turn off the headlights, with luck, like we had, you will see the dazzling Milky Way in full glory overhead. Pure Magic.

We were looking for a reasonably priced accommodation without succumbing to all the negatives associated with many "roadside" motels. Country Road Lodge B & B met our needs and then some. It is a beautiful setting overlooking the Hudson River with birds galore. Our room was of modest size, but clean and tastefully decorated. A screened gazebo made a perfect site for watching the sunset over the river while enjoying a dessert from the nearby top-notch Grist Mill restaurant. Breakfast was very good. Sandi and Steve were pleasant and helpful hosts. Definitely a find for anyone who appreciates getting back to a more pastoral setting, off the pavement and away from the TV.

The approach to this idyllic location is a long, dirt road. The house is situated on a secluded, magnificent property facing the Hudson River. The house itself is not fancy, but it is spotless, and pleasantly decorated. Our 8-year old son, who had never stayed at a B & B before, was skeptical upon seeing the house ("THIS is a hotel??? We're staying at someone's HOUSE????). But after helping himself to lemonade in the fridge whenever he wanted, skipping stones into the Hudson, watching the constant hummingbird parade, sitting in the fabulous screened gazebo, and playing games in the living room, he declared "This place is AWESOME". It was incredibly restful, and one has to envy the owners, Sandy and Steve, who get to experience this peaceful lifestyle everyday. Sandy and Steve were wonderful hosts -- friendly and helpful. We had an amazing breakfast, and enjoyed conversation with the other guests at the communal table. The breakfast room is a beauty. We felt very comfortable and Sandy and Steve made us feel welcome and very much 'at home' in their home. We will definitely go back. PS - if you need a great restaurant in the area, try the Grist Mill. Pricey, but very good.
