“Once Great NOW Disappointing!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2010

I've camped here many years under the old ownership as well as the new ownership. It was once a really nice place to spend a week. It was clean, well maintained, and the owners had activities for everyone.

Under the old ownership, daily morning activities were provided for the kids, evening activities for families including bands on the weekend, both pools were open, both sets of bathrooms were available and cleaned 3 times a day, and we'd reserve the previous year for our sites for the following season. It was really nice back then and was always at least 50 filled, nearing capacity on weekends.

We've stayed there twice under the new corporate ownership, and they done away with all activities, filled in a pool, demolished the bathroom by the river, and you are lucky if they clean and unplug the toilets within a 24 hour period. Reservations were nothing but chaos. We needed 5 sites, and we specified which ones, and that we all wanted to be together. Only one family actually stayed on the site that they reserved, everyone else was on a different site than what they had been told, and then we found out the sites we wanted were vacant for almost the entire week. In addition, they charge more than what's on the website including a $3/night resort fee and you get less amenitities for that fee, unless you use the shuttle to go to the sister campground and use their amenities. News flash to the corporation, if I wanted to go to Lake George Escape, I'd camp there to begin with.

We just came back from a week there, and have decided not to return. We will be trying out the Adirondack Adventure Campground on East Schroon River road instead.

We miss you Dave and Noelani!!

My experience at Schroon River Valley Resort was the exact opposite as the person below. Yes the bathrooms are small, that's true, but they are manageable and CLEAN. The pool, I didn't use it. The campsites, especially the elite river view's are fantastical. I highly recommend this place. The staff are very friendly and nice and helpful. I'm going to be there again this Memorial Weekend, hope to make it a yearly event. I really enjoyed myself the last time. Fishing right from your site, the sound of the soothing river, nearby attractions... what more could you possibly ask for.

lake george is such a magnificent place for a family oriented campers, however, there are lots of camping grounds to choosefrom. We are one of thse campers who rely on advertisement to choose from one of the many camping facilities and sometimes its hit or miss. I had never been disappointed untill we went ti these particular camping resort. The advertisement seems to have everything at least what we had expected for. The camping resort is so nearby the highway that you hear every single car that passes by. It is so noisy that it kept us awake all night. Fishing at the resort? theres no such place .No heating pool like wise and the bathrooms are just for 150lbs. person. Do not even bother going to the bathroom if you are moer than 200lbs. you will be stuck in the bathroom. Our vacation I say is not all such failure. We enjoyed Lake george otherwise.
