I've camped here many years under the old ownership as well as the new ownership. It was once a really nice place to spend a week. It was clean, well maintained, and the owners had activities for everyone.
Under the old ownership, daily morning activities were provided for the kids, evening activities for families including bands on the weekend, both pools were open, both sets of bathrooms were available and cleaned 3 times a day, and we'd reserve the previous year for our sites for the following season. It was really nice back then and was always at least 50 filled, nearing capacity on weekends.
We've stayed there twice under the new corporate ownership, and they done away with all activities, filled in a pool, demolished the bathroom by the river, and you are lucky if they clean and unplug the toilets within a 24 hour period. Reservations were nothing but chaos. We needed 5 sites, and we specified which ones, and that we all wanted to be together. Only one family actually stayed on the site that they reserved, everyone else was on a different site than what they had been told, and then we found out the sites we wanted were vacant for almost the entire week. In addition, they charge more than what's on the website including a $3/night resort fee and you get less amenitities for that fee, unless you use the shuttle to go to the sister campground and use their amenities. News flash to the corporation, if I wanted to go to Lake George Escape, I'd camp there to begin with.
We just came back from a week there, and have decided not to return. We will be trying out the Adirondack Adventure Campground on East Schroon River road instead.
We miss you Dave and Noelani!!
