Me, my husband and our 2 year old packed a lunch, our child carrier and some bug spray on the 4th of July and went for a hike on the Indian Ladder Trail in Thacher Park. And let me tell you....I am so glad we spent our holiday doing this! Absolutely amazing views. Two gorgeous waterfalls and clean, well cleared paths. There is a new looking and adorable playground for kids, an abundance of picnic tables and a few restrooms stationed throughout the park. We stayed all day and watched fireworks at such a high elevation from towns near and far. Best hike and best way to spend the 4th EVER! We already bought our Empire Passport, because we will be returning to this park again very, very soon!! (Just be cautious with children or careless people. The dropoffs on the cliffs are quite steep and the paths at most points are very narrow. We put our son in a comfortable child carrier we bought for such outings. That way he doesn't have to walk but can still enjoy the scenery.)
