“Anniversary weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

My husband and I just spent a lovely weekend at this bed and breakfast to celebrate our 20th anniversary. The room was nicely appointed and the breakfasts were tasty! And the bluebird sanctuary across the street was a nice place for a morning walk.

When we got home we discovered that we'd forgotten something there, and Eileen sent it out to us in the same day. Thanks, Eileen!

This was our first B&B experience and we were very happy with our choice. Eileen and Don are a lovely couple who have thought of everything! We stayed in the Hideaway suite which came with a well equipped kitchenette (fridge and microwave) which we shared with our friends who stayed in the Black and Tan suite. Hopefully we can find time to try out the telescope next time. I can't say enough about this perfect little getaway... cozy and clean, friendly, historical, centrally located to everything. The owners love to chat with all of their guests and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. They can tell you anything you need to know about the area and directed us to some fabulous restaurants and a spectacular antique market. We shopped all day and rested well at night... the perfect shopping getaway!

Room Tip: Do not skip breakfast!

My husband and I wanted to just have a little get away...

I recommend the "Black & Tan" room which was very spacious, spotless and private. Eileen was a welcoming host who cooks breakfast better than my grammy!

Activities were not too far away and we even enjoyed some awesome vittles at Dinosaur Barbeque in Rochester.

I'm looking forward to a return trip, and who knows, maybe a vow renewal in the beautifully decorated barn. Eileen advised that she could perform the ceremony!

Enjoy!

Room Tip: I think we hit the jackpot with the Black & Tan suite which had a very large bed and was very pr...

First, let me tell you that the host Eileen is warm and welcoming, and the B and B has some nice features including the common living and dining rooms, they are nicely decorated and unique. Their dog is very friendly. And it was great chatting to all the guests staying there in the am over breakfast. However the room we stayed in was not exactly as it looks in the pictures, the decorative oriental carpet has been replaced by a very small plain area carpet, and the cushioned chair is no longer there, is now replaced by a small wooden rocking chair. The TV is one of those old ones - very small. I also found the food was not as tasty, there were not as many options as it had been written up to be. When we went to our rooms at night we kept hitting our heads on the sloped ceilings so anyone staying in the upstairs rooms needs to be careful when getting into and out of the bed. Even so, we still managed to bang into the ceilings; it' is a very sharp slope. I tried to love this place as the location was right by a country park, you could hear the birds singing in the morning, the B and B is not overly far from a shopping mall, the finger lakes are not too far away and the hostess was very friendly, but there were several downsides. The barn was in need of painting, it is looking worn - the paint is coming off. I could overlook the barn, but there needs to be some money invested and work done. I have stayed in B many B's - I simply found for this location & the type of rooms, the prices are high. At $80.00 a night - it would have been a nice find. Anyone thinking of staying needs a car to stay here. As for sleeping, the bed - mattress wasn't overly comfortable for whatever reason and the pillows were hard and stiff. It wouldn't hurt to invest in some down or softer pillows. Also the portable plug in air conditioning is quite noisy if trying to sleep. When we arrived, our bedroom was hot, the air conditioner was not turned on and it took a while to cool the room down. I understand the owners were probably trying to conserve energy. For the $150.00 per night tax incl and up....depending on the room you choose, I found it pricey. I'm sorry, I expected more. I would not go back as it is now, it would need some work and the prices would have to drop.

Room Tip: Seek a room that does not have a sloped ceiling, but be prepared to pay more.

This was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast, and we had a very nice stay at Springdale Farm. Rooms were very clean and the owners were very accommodating. Enjoyable breakfast and it was ready immedeatly upon sitting at the table. Very close to all the sights in and around Lake Canandaigua, and nice wineries nearby. We would definitely recommend Springdale Farm B&B.

We recently stayed at the Springdale Farm B&B while visiting the Finger Lakes District for the first time. We will certainly be back. We stayed in the Black and Tan Suite and were thrilled with the bright, beautiful and restful place. The food was fantastic! It was fresh, beautifully and thoughtfully presented ( i.e. food allergies and intolerances) and delicious. The location was wonderful; perfect for sightseeing and shopping. All in all, a great vacation!
