“Decent food, quick service -- good diner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012 via mobile

We needed a quick lunch before catching a SUNY tour. We had asked about a good place for lunch at a local car dealership, and were told about the Plaza Diner. The place was hopping. We received a friendly greeting. Our waitress took our order promptly. Basic soup and salad starters. My son's roast beef club was decent. I had the spinach and feta quiche which was tasty -- very filling. One of the better diners I've been to -- although I'm not a huge fan of diners. Too much food for me.

“Good place for a family meal near Binghamton University”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

We were looking for a place to eat near SUNY that wasn't either a chain or too pretentious and expensive. We read the reviews for the Plaza Diner and decided to try it. We arrived about 4 pm on Sunday and were promptly seated, the restaurant wasn't crowded yet. The menu has plenty of choices, the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Our entree choices probably ranged from three to four stars in quality. The desserts we got were definitely five stars. Our waitress I would say had some issues, but we were gentle with each other and got through that OK. By the time we left, the restaurant was crowded, but it is pretty big. We would definitely eat there again, it is a nice place for family and friends.

“Would return again!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

We were passing through town on Christmas morning. We were happy to be quickly seated & the waitress returned promptly to take our order. We hadn't had a chance to even look at the menu so we asked if she'd give us just a couple minutes. When we were ready, she wasn't so we had to coax her back to the table. Honestly, I found her a bit abrupt, but maybe she didn't want to be working on Christmas.....

We ordered the eggs Benedict, which were delish in every way. The eggs were perfectly cooked, nicely toasted English muffins, tasty Canadian bacon and the hollendaise was very good. The dish was swimming in the sauce, so it could have been a tad lighter on that. The only thing I didn't like was the home fried potatoes. They were nice and crispy and the taters were tender, but there was sooo much season salt on the top of them they were extremely salty so I only had a few from underneath. I would have liked to have eaten more, but the salt did them in.

I'd like to return sometime. The desserts looked fantastic!

“Great breakfast and baked goods”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

If you are in the Vestal area, or even nearby in Binghamton, you should definitely stop in at the Plaza diner. The breakfast is excellent, service staff are very nice, and the food arrived at the table in about 5 minutes. The dessert cabinets in and around the cash register are ridiculous (in a good way): an impressive array of pies, cakes, muffins and more. Some of the cakes are 10-12" high and the chocolate chip cookies on the counter are the size of your face - and they taste great too.
