I am surprised to learn that this Courtyard has won award(s) in the past. It certainly would not based upon my experience.
I was encouraged a few months back to find a hotel here locally that had such a good reputation, but when I tried to secure a block of rooms for a wedding, I did not exactly encounter excellent service. Initially, things were not really amiss when I asked about how I could block some rooms. The front desk called for the woman in charge of this and she came out to meet me. In her office, she asked me details about the event...where it would be held, etc. I found her questions to be intrusive, so I simply told her the town nearby where the event would be. She then somehow decided that since it was in this particular town, it MUST be at a hotel that is also in that town. She then told me that I should book rooms at THAT hotel instead of this one! Well, I was shocked. Telling me to go to another hotel, even though she had also said that the Courtyard had availability for the dates we needed. Why would she do that? First of all, our wedding was not at the location she assumed it was, and secondly, even if it had been, I was at the Courtyard wanting rooms...so why would she have turned me away? Doesn't make sense. Did she think that our wedding guests would not be good enough for this business hotel? That is how she acted.
When I looked aghast and ready to leave, she must have realized how ridiculous she was, so she offered me a card with contact info.
Perhaps someone should inform the employees here that Courtyard hotels by Marriott are BUSINESS hotels and not 5 star resorts. Definitely an attitude problem here.
