My husband and I (who got married less than a year ago) stay at the Turning Stone hotel once a month with a free hotel stay coupon we get in the mail. This time my husband decided to upgrade us to the Lodge for roughly an extra $150 dollars. The Lodge is beautiful and so peaceful! It is decorated in a native american/nature/rustic motif and has a beautiful lobby that invites you to waste some time in it relaxing. There was a fire in the fireplace and a little nook on each side of it that my husband and I sat in for a while later in the evening. Our room was beautiful and spacious. We had a small foyer, a living room with a long couch and separate small seat and a television. The bedroom was off of the living room with a HUGE bed with down pillows and a comforter. There is also a television in the bedroom and nightstands on both sides of the bed... one of them had a CD player on it. This room was more like a condo or a small apartment rather than a hotel room. The bathroom was a good size with a deep tub and standing shower. There was also a small changing room area with good sized closets near the bathroom.
What I really loved was there was a small patio with wood chairs and a small table outside. My husband and I sat out there relaxing and taking in the views of the golf course and the nature around the Lodge.
The people who work at the Lodge are very attentive and will go out of their way to make sure you have a nice time. There were chocolates at the check in area and water complimentary. We went swimming in the pool which was lovely and even had a waterfall. We also used the gym area which had nice equipment. One problem though was there was no locker room in this area. I would have liked a big locker room and maybe a spa and steam room. I think the reason it is like this is because they want to encourage guests to use the big spa in the Lodge.
We went to the spa café and had French pressed coffee the morning we were going to check out. The people working there were so nice and we talked with them for about a half hour. It was really pleasant to connect with people and just have nice conversation.
When we checked out and were waiting for valet to bring our car around, some of the other valet people asked if we would like bottles of water for the drive home and wanted to know if we needed directions home.
All in all it was very, very lovely. It is a pricey place though and unfortunately we can only stay there for special occasions or once in a while, but if you want to relax and feel like you are really pampering yourself, this is the place to do it!
