“A Convenient Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

We were visiting family and friends and found this perfectly situated. We originally were from the overall general area and both daughters had their rehearsal dinners here, so we were familiar with it. There was a tattoo conference at the adjacent Nassau Coliseum. Many attendees were staying here. The reception was very good and we were in our room within 10 minutes including time to park our car. The room was pleasant and clean. Internet access was easy. Some attendees at the conference felt it was in the middle of nowhere. Actually the surrounding area is quite nice and active. The indoor pool and exercise room were convenient. They have an active sports bar off the lobby and a sit-down restaurant that's open for breakfast and dinner. It's convenient to NYC, if you have a car. There is a nearby parkway that runs north-south and connects with east-west highways that go into the city. This is a large and busy hotel but they know how to maintain peace and tranquility for their guests. We were happy staying there. It cost us less per night than a hotel in Salisbury, Md.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor.

Terrible service platform. I stayed here as a guest of a wedding. Frontdesk was rude and when I inquired about other concerns to the doorman/ security guard he brushed me off as if it was not his problem. I've worked in a 5 star hotel for yrs & if I had spoken to my guests in that manner I would have been fired! I would sleep in my car before I stay here again.

I have stayed at the Long Island Marriott four times over the last three weeks for business. Nice rooms and the place is in overall in good condition. The only issue I had one of my nights was that the front desk called me room at 2:00 a..m. to say "my food arrived". I told them they got the wrong room and apologized. A half hour later I got another call so I was not happy. When I called the next morning to let them know what happened, they apologized and I understood is was not done on purpose. If you are doing business on that part of Long Island, then the Long Island Marriott is a good choice.

I read reviews that talk about need for room upgrades. I actually thought this was a nice location and the rooms were fine.

The service was excellent and measured up to my standards for a Marriott. The concierge level is OK ans could use an upgrade if the hotel wants more business platinum travelers.

I have stayed here a few times and all were great experiences.

Very good hotel, as expected from a Marriott. We stayed for a concert at the Coliseum, so location was perfect. Nice rooms, nice bathroom, amazing mattress and bedding as usual and the sports bar downstairs is perfect for a casual dinner.
Very pleased with the choice.

This property is conveniently located to JFK airport- 20 minutes by SuperShuttle in morning rush hour traffic and is right next door to the Nassau Coliseum , the home of the New York Islanders hockey team.

The hotel lobby while not expansive is very comfortable and inviting and there is a breakfast lounge where one can pick up an assortment of food and beverages n the morning as an alternative to the sit down restaurant. There is also a Champions sports bar, which is found at several Marriott hotels across the country to eat during the remainder of the day.

Located just behind the hotel is the Hempstead Parkway, which is dotted with an assortment of restaurants. There is a Chipotle, Starbucks and McDonalds within walking distance which I am defining as less than one mile away.

The sleeping rooms are very clean and comfortable with several nice touches like a small reading lamp on the headboard of each bed and a control panel which has four outlets, plus a host of other useful connections for computer and video devices.

Parking at the hotel is free and it has a huge parking lot, probably owing to the fact that it is next door to the Coliseum and receives a large influx of fans either staying at the hotel or seeking parking for the games.

The only real detraction is the lack of free wi-fi in the rooms and meeting areas, but that is fairly commonplace at this level of hotel in the Marriott universe. However there is free wi-fi in the lobby area, including the lounge, so you can comfortably work there and avoid the $12.95 per day charge, if you don’t mind doing so in a public place.

Overall this hotel more than met my needs and I will definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Long Island.

My wife and i stayed there last night for the tattoo convention. Right next store to the nassau colliseum. Cant beat for convience. Rooms are ok , price didnt try and bang me out for a room with a huge event going on. Staff always pleasant and what you would expect from a marriott.. Only ate breakfast there in i think was was called prime something lil pricey for eggs , bacon and toast 15 bux!! BUT THE BUFFET ONLY 20 so why not its all you can eat and so many choices omellets freshly made to order, waffles french toast and fresh fruits so why not. Room clean avg size . Indoor pool is clean ans nicely sized.. No complaints
