“Pasta Thumbs Up, Fort Connection Poor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We took Amtrak's Adirondack Special, which is passage for two, for a price of 1 from Montreal to NYC, provided you stop in Ticonderoga. No B&Bs in Ti so stayed at Best Western. Room was quiet, clean and well appointed. Pasta Night (Tuesdays) is wonderful with a chef who cooks up to your specific choices including type of pasta, all you can eat...yummy. The self-serve complimentary breakfast is also extensive with everything from cereal, to pancakes, to eggs and sausages. Coffee sucked though.
You'd think the hotel, the only place to stay would enable Amtrak tourists to be picked up and delivered to the train station, which is 3 miles out of town in the middle of nowhere. We got off the train, Cdn cell phones don't work, so tried the Bell phone which was dead. Walked 1 kilometre to a paybooth for Fort Ticonderoga and attendent kindly allowed me to call hotel, who I asked to call a cab. We had to walk back to the train station the next day, again no shuttle available.
If this somewhat depressed little town wants to build its tourism on the Fort they should work on better infrastructure to make it easy for train visitors. The Fort is worth half to a full day, interesting history, georgous location, authentic staffing with tours and demonstrations. Learned lots about US/Canada history.

Room Tip: pre arrange pick up from the train station if you don't have a US cell.

I recently organized a battlefield tour of Ticonderoga for approximately 60 Canadian military personnel and the support I received from Allison and staff at the Best Western Ticonderoga was amazing. All of my expectations and demands were met and our visit was a huge success, and I had a tough audience to please. Military personnel expect well organized events and Allison and the Best Western did not let me down. When we arrived at the hotel Allison had all the rooms sorted and check in was quick and painless. We were there on Tuesday night and took advantage of "Pasta Night" an excellent event. The rooms were spotless, the bathrooms spic and span and the beds really comfortable. The free breakfast is filling and was really a nice touch. If you visit Ticonderoga and you stay any where else you are wasting your time and cash!!

On our first visit to the area to visit Fort Ticonderoga, this hotel was perfect as a home base. The rooms were ample, well-appointed, clean and the bathroom was beautiful. The room had a fridge, m-wave and 2 tv's. The front desk was friendly and helpful. The lobby with complimentary computer/printer was cozy. Look for the evening cookies! Breakfast was as expected. The Borgoyne Grill was fantastic. Pool and gym looked great, but did not have time to use them. There was a game and laundry room, too. It was so nice to have everything you needed under one roof. You could have a lovely dinner, several drinks and walk to your room for the night. Does it really get any better than that?

Stayed here on our way to pick up our son at camp nearby. Not too many choices nearby. About 20 minutes from our son's camp. The hotel was clean, and the staff very helpful and nice. Bed was very comfortable, and bathroom updated. I used the gym early in the morning and they have quite a few pieces of equipment for the size of the gym and hotel. There is also an indoor pool which I did not use, but it looked nice. We ate in the restaurant on premises for dinner which was ok, breakfast was included and there is always coffee and tea available for free in the lobby, as well as freshly baked cookies upon arrival.

We stayed here while visiting the Fort. The staff was helpful, the pool and hot tub were clean. Rooms were nice. We enjoyed the pasta night on Wednesday. The chef cooks your custom dish in the dining area while you watch. Great fun!

We went to Ticonderoga to see the Fort and stayed one night at the Best Western Plus. This hotel looks pretty rustic on their website, but the rooms are far from it. I suppose the decor in the lobby is intended to look rustic in fitting with the area. But the rooms are modern, comfortable and clean. I usually rate a hotel by the bathroom, and this one exceeded my standards. It looked newly renovated with granite counter tops, shiny faucets and a sparkling clean bathtub. The beds were comfortable with triple sheeting, but that seems to be the norm today.
