“Nice, new hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2011

I stayed here last Christmas and will be staying here again this Christmas. The hotel is very cozy with the fireplace and rustic. Very new and the staff was pleasant. I am glad to see the prices come down a little this year though from last year.

Went up for the weekend of hiking and just general relaxation. I highly recommend this place. The people were extremely friendly, the food was great, my boyfriend has celiac disease and they were extremely accommodating. The facilities were really nice, fireplace, jacuzzi, tv, complementary snacks. It is a short drive from many activities, skiing, hiking, Main st is just right down the road with plenty of shops and restaurants for lunch and dinner. I will definitely be back!

We were staying in a B&B in Hunter, and noticed the HMB while driving by. We decided to check it out and were so impressed, we left the other B&B (losing a prepaid night) and raced back to the Hotel Mountain Brook to salvage our weekend.

The hotel is decorated in a very clean but homey Arts and Crafts / Eastlake style. We were hard-put to choose between hanging out in the sitting room or our own room, both of which had easily-lit gas fires.

We found the staff to be the perfect combination of responsive but unobtrusive, so we felt we had privacy without feeling abandoned.

Try to be hungry for breakfast: everything was very fresh and the portions very generous, especially the pancakes.

Looking forward to going back!

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor in a room (I think it was #7) with high ceilings and views in three dir...

Our weekend at the Hotel Mountain Brook can be described only as one on the most enjoyable weekends we have experienced in the Catskill Mountains. Amy and her staff took the word hospitality to the tenth level. From check in to check out everything was top notch. The room was warm and cozy and immaculately clean. Breakfast in the morning was fabulous. We needed suggestions and directions on where to go for entertainment and food and Amy personally attended to all of our needs. We will return again to enjoy Amy's warm hospitality and the comfortable feel of the Hotel Mountain Brook. Our best wishes for their continued success. Do yourself a favor and experience the Hotel Mountain Brook's Five Star Accommodations.

Cabins are attached, room smallish, but it and bathroom were spotless. Could use larger tv. Breakfast was the best. Staff were young, but helpful. Grounds needed spifing up.

The hotel is not secluded and doesn’t have a bar or full service restaurant. However if you are looking for a “base of operations” to visit the Woodstock/Hunter/Windham areas, this is the place to stay. The only meal served at the hotel is breakfast and it should not be missed. There are plenty of of restaurants close by. This isn’t the kind of place where you just “pop in”. You should call ahead and discuss your plans and expectations, even if you leave a voice message, Amy, the hotel owner, will call you back. She takes a personal interest in every aspect of your stay. She knows the area and she and her staff know how to make guests feel welcome. She really gets it.

Room Tip: There are only a handful of rooms, so call and discuss specific details with Amy the hotel owner.

We stayed in the Hotel Mountain Brook on a family trip to the Catskills and absolutely loved it. The decor in the inn is amazing, our room was perfect, the staff was so knowledgable and friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic. I can see how some would consider this on the pricey side, but I found it to be worth it -- it is nicer than many name-brand Hilton / Sheraton type hotels I have stayed in. The views are picturesque and the town is great and walking distance. We are definitely going back and would definitely recommend it to others.

My only complaint is that they didn't have a highchair for my daughter at breakfast.
