“Very Helpful Staff. Great location for SU”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2010

We planned on visiting SYR to tour SU. The hotel is literally ON the campus. Everything you need is within walking distance. Free shuttle from the airport was great.

We were on different itineraries than our soon- to-be college son. Our connecting flight through Chicago was canceled although our son made it to Syracuse as planned. We could not arrive until the next day and he had to navigate his travel on his own. Although he is a well traveled individual, this was his first time visiting a new city and staying in a hotel by himself.

The staff was wonderful as we arranged most things via cellphone. They were helpful and supportive and made sure he was well taken care of.

Room service and breakfast in the restaurant were just what he needed. Rooms were comfortable although some window seals could be recalked as there was a whistle through the window all night long.

Thanks to the staff for helping out for what could have been a tough situation.

I stay at Sheratons fairly often and generally find them to be nice properties. This one was no exception. Check-in was smooth and quick. The front end staff was able to clarify some directions I had to a local business. My room was spacious (Jr. Suite) and clean. However, the hallway needed some attention but nothing significant. The bed was comfortable and I had no noise issues from other rooms. Breakfast the next morning was fine and the service good. Overall, not the best experience I have ever had at a hotel but a very solid experience and I would happily recommend this property to others.

We had to call the front desk 6 times to get the air conditioning to work. And in order to get it to work, they had to get an engineer to activate it via a computer, which is basically ridiculous. Despite the computer air conditioning activation, it stopped working again at around 2am. The hotel did send an engineer to our room around Midnight--again, ridiculous.

The rooms were of standard quality, the beds were nice and big, but because of the lack of air circulation it made sleep incredibly uncomfortable.

Found that the front desk were poorly informed. I mean, Syracuse is a university town, I was there to bring my nephew to the Admissions Info Session and Campus Tour, the front desk directed us to the WRONG building (he said across from the hotel when it wasn't). So we ended up getting lost and attending the info session late.

By the time we checked out, we were glad to be leaving. It's a pity, because Sheratons are usually great, but man, the one at Syracuse is just so backwards and so disappointing. Despite its proximity to the SU campus, we will not be returning.

I have been meaning to write this for more than a month, I really want everyone to know that this hotel is by far the BEST in Syracuse. We have stayed here several time throughout the years and I have never taken the opportunity to write a review but our recent stay was by far the most enjoyable. We had to come to town for a funeral and didn't think twice about booking our stay at the Sheraton, I called to make the reservation and spoke directly with the reservation person Jessica, she was so pleasant and informative, asked great questions and found an outstanding room. Upon check in we were greeted by Jane at the desk, she was so pleasant and caring, she extended her sympathy and let us know that if we needed anything to just give her a call. We ate a quick bite in the restaurant and the food was outstanding. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, and when you are there tell Jane and Jessica we said hi.

If visiting Syracuse University you cannot beat this location. I have stayed off campus on previous visits and the Sheraton is the best deal as you can park your car in their lot and walk to wherever you need on campus. The beds were very comfortable although we could not shut off the AC which provided a steady blast of cold air in our faces while we were trying to sleep. April weather was 80 degrees day prior and dipped to 39 and did not need AC. We covered the unit with luggage after giving up on the faulty thermostat. Marshal St. is also conveniently across the street with Star Bucks, and local inexpensive restaurants for a quick bite. My first choice while visiting Syracuse University.

We had a decent room on a high floor, but the smells from the kitchen of the restaurant kept wafting up to the room: steak at night, bacon at 5 in the morning. That was not good.

can't say anything bad about this hotel, got good sleep the bar food is actually GOOD, wow. only thing that irked me was the bell service. the guy watched me (a petite female) haul her own 60 pound luggage into the rental car while he stood there and watched. no tip for you. i thought it was cute tho that the parking garage is on "the honor system", i wonder how many students park there :)
