“This bread is perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

We went in the bread company and smelled heaven. After looking over the bread, we decided to go next door to their deli and have the bread with a sandwich (504 Pearl). It was phenomenal to say least. The meatballs in a heel was crazy good. Highly recommend!

“Like it used to be”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

If you look carefully you may find something new modern . However better if you don't . Bread is excellent! Cooked just like it was forever ago. Meat and cheese is excellent in building next door.

“Old school”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

Like walking back in time. A Syracuse classic. The building looks like it could collapse at any moment, but the bread won't.

“No place else makes bread this good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

This is Italian bread! Made with basic ingredients by people who know what they are doing! Buy at least 2 loaves, 1 whatever is hot, and eat it in the car, second loaf will then make it home to the family.

“Another Syracuse Institution for Broken Taste Buds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Granted, Columbus Bakery has been in Syracuse forever. It's an institution. However, let's not get blinded by what is a tradition in bland bread. Columbus Bakery breads can be found in most Syracuse restaurants. They're the slices that look a little like Scotch tape dispensers from the side. While it is always soft with a nice crust, it's taste is one step up from the blandness of ordinary white bread. In fact, it can best be described as Italian style white bread. This is not an Italian bread in the style of most Italian breads ( long, crusty, flavorful). There's only two types sold; the long loaf or the round loaf. The price is very reasonable and the smell of the bakery is wonderful. It's too bad there is a lack of flavor. This is definitely not a New York (Arthur Avenue?) Italian bread. More like the Wonder Bread of Italian breads. Average at best!
