“A Real Irish Joint in the Middle of New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

We had lunch in this pub on a Saturday afternoon. The menu was eclectic - we had Irish Canonballs, bangers & mash, and shepherd's pie. The bar was decked out in dark wood and Irish decorations. Several TVs were playing various sports games - a game between Syracuse and Tulane was playing and a great amount of cheering was going on. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Quite an enjoyable experience.

“thank you trip advisor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

would have never found this place without tripadvisor. ate here twice in a month as my husband was a patient at suny upstate hosp for three weeks. I went for both lunch and dinner. both times were weekday. each time this place was crowded with locals. did not have to wait for table. we had cannonballs, lime tequila wings, Rueben, grilled turkey cranberry sandwich, fish and chips, flank steak sandwich, clam chowder. fairly priced. atmosphere very authentic...nice change from chain restaurants. on street parking not always easy as this is armory square. did pay $6 for lot once. gave us free baileys shots once (when we purchased cocktails). they have daily specials an live music fri and sat nites. outdoor seating fills up fast.

“Hail fellow well met”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

This was a raucous place, surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night, or perhaps not since I am not a native of Syracuse. But if I lived there, it seems like a place I would like to frequent. Really authentic looking in decor and feel, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We had the Shepherd's Pie and meatloaf, both which were very good. Had to yell at each other to hear our conversation, so wasn't the best choice for an evening business meeting - the sidewalk table would have been ideal, but then we would have missed the festive atmosphere. Good service and enjoyed the delicious complimentary Irish Cream at the end of the meal.

“Relax, Eat and Enjoy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Aside from the whole Armory Square District being a newly discovered gem in Syracuse, this place was terrific. Authentic Irish food with options for those who don't want that. But if you don't have the Fish and Chips, then why bother going Irish. It was absolutely mouthwatering - and don't even get me started on the more than generous portion size!! Also, there are quite a few brews to choose from, as well as wines by the glass and bottle. The service was excellent as well. It has outdoor seating; don't be fooled by the outside either. Once you get inside, the place just keeps on going and going, so even on a Saturday night that was jumping, we didn't have to wait. Highly recommend, and we'll be back.

“Armory Square Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

If you like Irish pubs, you'll really enjoy Kitty Hoyne's. We started a recent family vacation with dinner (for two couples) plus Trivia Night. Although we were mighty, we went down to defeat. But we enjoyed ourselves so much we returned later in the week for another meal. The beer-list is actually better than what you find in most pubs in Ireland, since craft-brewing is still a fledgling business over there. At Kitty Hoyne's they draw an excellent pint of Guinness, but have a number of local and not-so-local brews on tap. The Irish cannonballs are, as reported, excellent, and the staff engaging. They treated us to a round of Irish Cream liqueur shots (Brady's, new competition for Bailey's apparently). Since the pub-owner is a Kilkenny man, the decor includes not only traditional Irish pieces but more up-to-date items as well, like the framed photo of the victorious 2012 Kilkenny junior team (Gaelic football). Well done, lads, and well done, Kitty Hoyne's.
