“outstanding views”

Fort Wadsworth is worth a trip. Views of New York harbor are outstanding. It's great walking (and good exercise). And don't forget the history. It's worth a trip.

“Free and fun historic fort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

A little bit nature hike, American history, architecture marvel as you may walk around the base of the Verazzano Bridge, and beautiful backdrop of the bridge, harbor, Brooklyn and city skyline for photo opportunities. There are regularly scheduled tours, but you are free to walk around on your own. In the fall they have "lantern tours" which are fun as well as informative. Not too far from the SI Ferry.

Wonder view of New York, Red Hook, Brooklyn and the harbor in general. Not far from the Staten Island Ferry. Self guided tour. No facilities and very hilly.

“Nice Views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Went there in the spring with my husband and daughter. There is a path to walk on and the views are very nice. We walked under the Verrazano, which was cool. Otherwise there really is not too much to do. The actual fort was not open to the public when we were there but it's possible that tours are scheduled.

I did not see any public rest rooms.
