“Sicilian Specialties”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

I grew up in Bensonshurst Brooklyn and used to frequent a small Italian take out restaurant on 13th Ave and 73 street for Pannelle Specials. In the mid '90's the place closed and I moved to Staten island so I thought my Pannelle days were over. I recently saw an add for Joe's in a local Staten island advertising magazine. I recently went for one reason and one reason only, to see if the Pannelle was authenticate. It was and it was great. My wife and I also tried the rice balls. The rice balls which are made with peas and chopmeat were good but just average. This may not be a 4 or 5 star restaurant but the extensive menu and -yes- those Pannelle Special sandwiches make this place worth a visit.

“Great Sicilian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2010

The restaurant/deli is a twin of its original Brooklyn store. The difference is this out let is much bigger than the original but still just as low key.
The Sicilian menu is as great as the original. The prices are high with some Sicilian fish pasta’s costing $25 but you will not find these Sicilian pasta’s anywhere else unless you go to Palermo.
The Sicilian desserts (cassata etc.) and Italian espresso are very, very good.
There are issues with their weekend night time hours sometimes they stay open past 9:00pm other times they decide to close early. There seems to be no logic to their weekend night time hours.
But if you love Sicilian this is your place
