At this lovely bed and breakfast you will not find luxury soaps; instead you are greeted with a friendly hello and warm smile by the owner of the inn, Marilyn. This was our second visit to this wonderful b & b and the only problem was we only had one day to stay there. The inn is very warm and cozy. There is always lovely music in the background. The breakfast is all prepared by Marilyn and she primarily uses local, fresh ingredients. Breakfast is a wonderful time to meet new people and swap notes pertaining to the best local places to go to for wine tastings, food and fun. So if you are looking for a perfect get away on the North Fork of Long Island, look no further. You will not be disappointed (unless of course a requirement of a good stay is having luxury soap).

BYOS Yes that's right...bring your own soap - this place only offers things like dollar store mega sizes of things like Suave - (did you know they even sold that anymore?) It's not a place to be pampered. When you ask questions you are told to refer to the sheet that was given to you when you registered. No chocolates under the pillow -- just some old stale granola bars in the crowded living room that I think you can take - but perhaps not... No fresh squeezed oj in the morning. You have to find the mini fridge down in the so-called library to get a bottle of water (and of course it is not spring water -- it's the puriefied flavored stuff). Basically for the money it's nothing special -- which is a shame because the area is so beautiful -- the beach across the street is lovely. The only problem is getting across the street -- it's a noisy highway and the cars are racing off to the ferry in Orient Point all day and night. Don't even consider sitting on the front lawn unless you bring along some ear plugs.

  • Liked — room was quiet
  • Disliked — room was stuffy because the windows had to be closed to keep out the noise

We enjoyed four nights here!

What a jewel..... Upon arrival we were greeted with warmth and a smile. The innkeeper (marilyn) made us feel welcomed immediately. The decor is elgant victorian with an Asian flare.
Comfort was first and foremost we felt at home.

Each morning as we made our way to the dining room for breakfast, soft classical music filled the parlor. The dining room doors were opened by the innkeeper inviting us into the candle lit room where we enjoyed a bountiful intimate meal. Each day's breakfast was unique and well prepared.

As for our accomandations, our room (southwest room) was beautiful, the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was immaculate.

The real surprise was to enjoy this inn's private beach on the L.I. Sound, the sunsets was breathtaking.

WE PLAN TO RETURN TO THIS SPECIAL PLACE.

We recently stayed at Shorecrest B & B and had a wonderful time. We've stayed in B&B's throughout the US and England so we are very familiar with the range of offerings and types of accommodations typical of the B & B experience. But Shorecrest is a cut above the usual B&B experience, certainly ranking with the best of stays we've had in either country. And Marilyn, our host, is an Americanized Brit who made us feel welcome from the moment we entered. Not only does she serve up a fabulous breakfast (we had baked apple French Toast one morning and goat cheese quiche the next) but she was both charming and very helpful with regard to dinner suggestions, vineyards to visit, and things to do in the area. She also has a green thumb and was happy to show us around her English garden and give us some gardening tips.

As the B & B was full during our stay, I didn't view any of the other rooms but we were very comfortable in the West room. The views were lovely, the bed plump and comfy, the bathroom modern and clean. What more can one ask for? We highly recommend this B & B and will stay there again the next time we are out on the North Fork.

For us, after a few tough months at work, Shorecrest was the perfect place to decompress and relax. The house is beautifully appointed with close attention to detail. Marilyn, the innkeeper, is warm and knowledgeable about North Fork restaurants and wineries. And she prepares an excellent and creative breakfast. The house is across the road from a private beach (150 paces from door to beach -- I counted!)
A wonderful find and we hope to return.

We just returned from a wonderfully relaxing weekend at the Shorecrest B&B. Upon arrival, it feels like you've stepped back in time into a cozy and inviting home overlooking the beautiful Long Island Sound. We bought cheese and wine at a local shop and spent the early evening sitting in the livingroom in front of the fire listening to soft music. Even though others are staying in the B&B, you feel as if you are the only ones there. The innkeeper, Marilyn does a wonderful job of checking in on you at just the right times and making sure you are taken care of. We stayed in the Southwest room - the bed was plush and so comfortable. The room was immaculate and had the original floorboards, which added to the overall feel. Marilyn's breakfast is outstanding and she puts amazing effort into all the details. She has an old photograph of the house from the turn of the century and her furniture and decorations remind one of living in a different era. The location is incredibly convenient - we took the ferry from nearby Greenport to Shelter Island and on to East Hampton and it cut the driving time in half. The wine country is literally down the road and there are amazing restaurants closeby.
