“Look no further, just stay at the 1708 House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

We stayed at the 1708 House for two nights in June 2014 and everything was perfect. The location of this B&B cannot be beat, literally steps away from the shops & restaurants of downtown Southampton, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Coopers Beach is a very short (& beautiful) drive away and having the beach pass made it 1000x times better.

We stayed in Room 3 and I loved it. The room was large with a lot of sitting space and a deliciously comfortable king size bed. The linens were clean and the Molton Brown bathroom products were a nice touch. The room was quiet and the AC worked well!

The daily breakfast was a highlight- fresh fruit & pastries, made to order eggs, delicious juices & coffee- it was great to be able to have a good meal before starting the day. They also have a daily "wine time" which was another nice touch. In a town that can be very expensive it was nice to have a little freebie. We sat in the rocking chairs on the front porch sipping on wine & watching the world go by, it was wonderful.

Linda & the rest of the staff at 1708 House made us feel welcome & completely comfortable. Don't bother looking for other accommodations in Southampton, just stay here. I will definitely be back.

Stayed for two nights in 1708 House at the end of May. It is right in the town of Southampton which is important if traveling by rail. An easy walk from the train station. The house is fabulous and the staff were very helpful. Room 5 is a traditional room and warm and cosy. The breakfast was wonderful and the hosts will do eggs as well as the usual continental breakfast.
They provide tea, coffee, wine and snacks at 3pm each day which is a lovely touch and the fridge is stocked with water, juice for use by guests.
Would love to return in winter. I'd say it is magical.

We spent five nights at 1708 House in April and were very well looked after. The rates were very reasonable and the cottage we stayed in was spacious: the two bedrooms and living area were a godsend when putting our baby to sleep on an evening.
Wifi was good, and the cottage was well maintained and comfortable. The house itself had a slightly busy aesthetic which may not be to everyone's taste but the service was good (there were a few times when no staff member was available: remember, this is a B&B and not a hotel). Breakfast was filling and it was nice to be told the kitchen was always well stocked and available for our convenience. All in all a great option for the Hamptons.

Room Tip: If you have a baby get one of the cottages.

Wonderful and historic inn with old world charm and modern day hospitality. Beautiful room and conveniently located in town close to shops and restaurants. A must stay if you are in the area and considering a b&b/inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 'A' which was large and sun-filled and privately located in a house additi...

My husband and I stayed at the 1708 house for a short getaway and loved it! The house is beautiful and has so much history. Linda is wonderful and gave us a great tour of the house and the cottages. They had a great afternoon tea with wine and snacks. The snacks were very fresh and tasty. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet and eggs to order. My husband and I both had omelettes that were delicious. The location is perfect. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We had dinner at Tutto Il Giorno and it was delicious. We had a terrific stay at this bed and breakfast and didn't want to leave. I wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you to everyone at the 1708 House for a great stay!!
