“It's Become a Second Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2011

We've been coming to the Red Cottage for years. It's the only place I'll stay in the Capital Region. The cottage is extremely comfortable and always immaculate. The setting is secluded and quiet, and simply relaxing in the cottage or on the grounds is often the most pleasurable part of a trip to the region for me. Stafford treats her guests like family, and a gourmet breakfast is included. Over the years breakfasts I've enjoyed there have included french toast, home made muffins, breads and biscuits, local sausage and ham, scrambled eggs with herbs, fresh fruit, and the most excellent coffee (with only real cream and sugar) all made with ingredients from the local co-op. Having visited so many times and being so comfortable there, the cottage truly feels like a second home. Be sure to book well in advance. You will not be disappointed.

I agree with everything that the previous reviewers have said. This is a delightful place to stay when visiting the NY Capital District. The setting is very private and the grounds are delightful, yet you are minutes from anyplace you might want to visit. The owner, Stafford Davis, is an excellent chef and a wonderful host. She is very interested in providing you whatever information you might need to make your visit as pleasant or productive as possible. She's a bit of a "foodie" so if you are as well she can direct you to the best places for dinner! The cottage itself is large (400 SF) and well furnished. You'll feel at home right away.

The Red Cottage is a lovely, large cottage that is situated on two acres of lush gardens, which is detached from the main house. It is only ten minutes from the capital of NY. The cottage is extremely comfortable and clean, with every amenity provided by the inn keeper to make a guest's stay enjoyable. The inn keeper, Stafford Davis, provided us with delicious breakfasts, which included wonderful jam and muffins made from her own blueberries. Ms. Davis is gracious and accommodating. We will definitely stay at the Red Cattage when we return to the Albany area to visit our children..

My in-laws stayed at The Red Cottage while in town for the wedding. It was the perfect place - quiet, private, well appointed, and with excellent breakfasts. They stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the gardens and the courteous owner, Stafford. The Red Cottage is a real gem.
