“1820 House in Skaneateles”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Four of us had dinner there last evening. The restaurant wasn't very cool (a/c not on) so we ate on the outdoor patio. A bit warm in the sun and umbrella didn't tip to shield it. We all chose from the Tavern menu -2 of us had crab cakes - delicious. One had shrimp - the other had steak - both were overly pleased. Waitress told us separate checks would cost us $1.00 per person. We told her NO - but she did list our costs separately on the one bill which made it easier to figure. You know how 4 ladies are at figuring out a restaurant bill ! When we left at 7:30 pm the inside of the restaurant seemed pleasant enough (heat-wise) even though a/c was still not on. The food was excellent - we would all go back again.

“A wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We are from the Boston area and this restaurant was recommended to us when we landed in Skaneateles to visit family and a new granddaughter.
My wife had the haddock that was the Saturday night special and she said it was fresh and delicious.
The views from the deck to the lake were outstanding as I was wolfing down my veal and lobster piccata. The waitress was very friendly.

Give this place a try.

“Great view, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012 via mobile

Had a very nice evening at the 1820. House. Sat outside on the deck with a beautiful view if Skaneateles Lake. We ordered two entrees-steak with shrimp and seaford newberg. Both were very good. Steak was prepared just perfectly. I enjoyed a dessert that was sort of a chocolate cream burle. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very good. Nice place to enjoy a good dinner and sunset.

“Always a treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

We ate here last night for the second time and the chef continues to impress us with fresh and interesting flavor combinations. We had a scallop and lobster tail app followed by two different entrees ( 1 split between two people). The haddock special was light and crispy, moist served over spinach . . . superb! We also shared the NY strip with lobster tail. This place has amazing views, friendly waitstaff, and food that continues to impress! Be sure to make a reservation and sit outside. Although the restaurant is decent size the chef does not sit a full house. You won't be disappointed!

“One of the best restaurants in Central New York”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

My wife and I are lucky enough to live about 15 minutes from the 1820 House and eat there as often as we can. We never considered writing a review until we saw some of the offensive reviews on this post and decided we had to add our opinion. We do a lot of travelling (some for business) and have dined at some high-end gourmet restaurants - most of which are located in large cities. The 1820 House offers comparable service and quality of food as these establishments but in our own back yard overlooking one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Rich and Christie have created a dinner and desert offering such that we are usually comfortable trying something different every time only because we know it is going to be an incredible experience. Not too many restaurants have accomplished what the 1820 House has.

Keep doing what you're doing guys - you have created a great experience in the 1820 House.
