“Perfect Setting for Fall Retreat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing stay in early November. The location is terrific - you can easily spend a few hours in nearby Sag Harbor or Greenport for lunch/shopping before getting on the ferry to Shelter Island.

The woman at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful from check in to check out - answering questions about dinner reservations, bikes, fresh pastries and more in between.

We had a nice dinner at the restaurant - the service was attentive and friendly - and enjoyed an excellent cappuccino on the front porch with the Sunday papers.

We had plenty of room on the second floor and was pleasantly surprised by the abundant natural light. Very comfortable bed.

We found an excellent deal on Jet Setter, but in season rates are high if competitive with other places on Long Island.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that's quiet

“So much potential, but lacking service and finesse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

My fiancé and I have just returned from a three night stay here, and we feel nonplussed by our experience. It was just after hurricane Sandy, so we were considering rescheduling, but the front desk assured us they were up and running as normal. We stayed in a junior suite, a fab room that was spacious, light and cleaned thoroughly every day. The bed was incredibly comfortable. But that's the only thing we really enjoyed, which isn't good enough for the rates we paid. We never received a warm, cheery hello, and the front desk was often unmanned as we were going out. The bikes need a good service, two of the four had faulty brakes and were unusable. For a smart boutique hotel with a European flair, everyone was wearing trainers, even at dinner. The food was good, but overpriced and very rich, everything tasted like it was soaked in butter. A dinner that left us feeling really unhealthy. Just lacking the small things, e.g. Freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast, complimentary water in the room, warm and friendly services, all the ingredients are there, but think the people need a bit more energy.

Oh, and Breakfast croissants are fantastic!

Room Tip: Junior suite out the back

“wonderful weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

After needing to cancel our summer reservation (which the hotel generously allowed us re-book), my husband and I spent a wonderful fall weeknd at La Maison Blanch Hotel. We stayed in a king suite -- everything was new, clean and comfortable. And except for some shrieking from the haunted house that the hotel hosted to benefit a local charity, all was peaceful and quiet. The buildings are newly and tastefully renovated. And the location -- near Crescent Beach, which in October, is blissfully empty -- was ideal. Look forward to returning.

“not worth the upgrade”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

My wife and I received a groupon for an overnight stay. We upgraded to a suite, down the road from the main hotel. I don't like to complain, but it was not worth the upgrade. Our room was right on the corner which made it very noisy as well as the creaky bed. The heating system remote was hard to figure out and it took a long time to heat the room. The sink backed up from normal use, some of the light bulbs were out. The shade on the door was insufficient to cover the glass, and worst of all the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything which prevented us from sleeping. Moral of the story --- go to Vegas.
