“GREAT one night stay, wished for longer!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

My Wife and I stayed for just one night and arrived early in the morning and as I work in a hotel in NYC was expecting to store our bags and check in..BUT we were able to check in right then. Very nice! Rooms smaller but what more do you need but a bed and bathroom and we had a Fantastic Ocean view. Restaurant was Great! we were sorry to have missed the Sat. night BBQ as we were leaving, sounded Amazing and then Fireworks later that night. Staff was amazing also, very nice and welcoming. i would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great views.private pool, games for rainy days..tons of things to do...or you can just relax.

Thank you Pridwin!

Thanks for your review of the Pridwin! We have enjoyed having you and your wife as our guests, though we're sorry to hear that you had to miss our famous cookout! While we can't take all the credit for our beautiful sunset views, we are glad to hear that our fantastic restaurant, diverse recreational activities, and friendly, welcoming service made your stay the perfect, relaxing one-night getaway. We hope that you'll join us for a longer visit again soon - we'll be happy to welcome you back!

The view from the outdoor dining room has the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen, along with the freshest fish I've ever eaten. You will not be disappointed with any of the meals ordered from steaks to salads. try the pridwin cocktail with duck confit and you will be blown away with the delicious flavors bursting in your palate.

My wife and I had dinner at the Pridwin Hotel last week.
We decided on the Prix Fix dinner for $30.00 per person.
It included appetizer, entree and dessert.
Almost all of the other restaurants were WAY over priced - steak - $40.00 and
it wasn't that good.

You had a very good choice from the appetizer / entree menu.
We were very surprised, the food was really excellent.
We ate outside and saw a beautiful sunset.

In our opinion, itwas the best dinner and the best deal on the Shelter Island.

Give it a try..

This hotel was like stepping back in time . the rooms were small and older, and the tv definitely needs to be updated beyond 19 inch tube tv. But beyond that the common areas were beautiful. Large parlor like effect and a very nice restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful and always fully stocked. The outside deck was overlooking the beautiful water a great way to enjoy your meal. The dinner was five star. Fresh and a good selection. If you visit shelter island and do not stay at Pridwin treat yourself to dinner at this wonderful restaurant.

The last night of our stay we traveled to other restaurants seeking fresh seafood and after going to three we went back to our hotel to find they had the best seafood selection on the island.

been going back for several years now and would start relaxing as soon as we get on the ferry. The place is well located with lovely verandas and views of the water.Food at breakfast is hot and abundant without ever running out, even when close to closing. They did away with the meal plan, but we still eat there, since there is such a wonderful view of the water, the little sailing school kids and fantastic sunsets. We have made friends there throughout the year and seem to see them the same week as we go. our"pridwin freinds" They have been going for years as well. The pool is lovely and has a beautiful view of the water, due to its elevation above the street. The Wed BBQ starts you getting hungry all say as they prepare-.Everyone is friendly and feels very safe interms of kids running around and no "criminal type activities" as you sometimes see out east, no drugs, peddlers etc. Very safe island. We will stop going only when the place closes down, which i hope never happens. A big hello to JP, who always seems happy to see us and all the foreign exchange students, that help us learn about their countries and we share their impression of the united States. They work very hard and are very profession, yet willing to converse , if their time permits.Rooms are basic, with basic amenities- we don't need a whirlpool anyway or 7000 TV channels. We are ther to be outside! A/c fine and you can get food stuffs at the local IGA and keep it in a cooler in your room. .We already have reservations for this year! They have nicely redecorated over the last few years and looks lovely. We have invited friends out while there and they have made a yearly tradition to stay there as well

Room Tip: there is no elevator, so if you have a lot of stuff or a physial ailment, try for the first or secon...

I have been going to the Pridwin Hotel for over 20 years. It is one of the most beautiful spots on Long Island. I love the relaxed atmosphere and the staff is always on hand to assist with my every request. Plenty to do and one of the best swimming beaches around. They also have some unique activities such as the famous Wednesday night BBQ which begins right around the 4th of July and extends till Labor Day. They feature "live" music with 2 of the best bands on Long Island, "MAJIC" and "The Lone Sharks". When I want to get away I always think of the Pridwin first. They book up pretty quickly so don't miss out on this wonderful family owned and operated resort !

Room Tip: pick something on the upper floors so you can appreciate the view of the bay

The Pridwin Hotel is more like an old country inn. The rooms are simple and clean. The beds are comfortable. The hotel, located on Shore Road, is waterfront with amazing sunsets. As you drive up to the Pridwin, you notice the adirondack chairs on the lawn. The dining veranda overlooks the water with sailboats in the distance. The twin docks invite boaters for dinner or a drink at the bar. The Wednesday everning BBQ is the highlight of the week offering shrimp, steak, chicken, salads, watermelon and the Pridwin's famous brownies.
Breakfast is served buffet. The crepes are my favorite. I usually have lunch at the pool and dinner on the veranda. The Pridwin no longer has a dinner meal plan which disappointed me last year. The prix-fixe dinner is very plain. The ala carte menu is delicious but pricey. I love the rack of lamb. My favorite desert is the creme brulee.
I've been going to the Pridwin for 10 years. I spend half the week solo and the other half with my family. The kids love it.
