The staff are lovely and helpful. We went to Shelter Island for a wedding at Ram's Head Inn which was booked up by the wedding party. As we are a family of 3, we stayed in a room with a Queen bed and twin sleeper with a beautiful water view. The beds and bedding are fluffy and so comfortable. The room is very small, basically just for sleeping and showering. No desk or table. The bathroom is tiny and it is so small 2 people cannot stand in it together. Ran out of hot water as I was the last to shower. The towels are extremely thin, too thin. The room has been semi renovated. New bathroom and carpeting. But still feels old. The lobby, restaurant and outdoor area is very nice, so that makes up for the room. Bring ear plugs if noise is a problem as you can hear everything. There is free wifi in the room which they haven't updated this service on their website.
Breakfast choices are yogurt, cereal (frosted flakes, rice bran flakes, cheerios) or whole wheat english muffins, tea or coffee, orange or cranberry juice. That's it. I noticed most people chose an english muffin and coffee. We were disappointed, but maybe you are good with that. The Islander restaurant is the place to eat at for a great breakfast anytime of the day. As an older couple we won't stay there again as we like more comfort and luxury, but certainly could see people in their 20's and 30's loving it.
