My family and i stayed at the Pridwin for 5 days in July. The highlights were: the location, which is lovely, (if you like very quiet) and the quality of the food served (quite high). There is also a tennis camp behind the property which was good for the kids, and nice boats/kayaks, etc, on the waterfront across the street.
The downsides: small, very variable rooms in terms of size and degree of renovation. Filthy carpets, outrageous bar ($10-15 glasses of wine--this is not East Hampton) and tennis prices ($120/hr for instruction) , quite inconsistent and poor service quality despite the huge staffing level (seemed like every European summer intern in the world works here), in fact so much so that the atmosphere in the bar at night was also ruined because it fills up with hotel staff on break. Given that we paid $350/night, this was a little heavy.
what was truly missing, in our opinion, was tough management. Normally in family-owned properties there is a either a member of the family "cracking the whip" to preserve their reputation, or some professionally-trained help doing the same. There was no evidence of either.
