“Lovely B and B stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

My wife and I stayed here for one night following a family wedding. The accomodations were lovely, and there were nice touches -- some fresh chocolate chip cookies left in the bedroom. Breakfast was very nice and we were able to eat on a covered porch outside. The hostess was very friendly, and was glad to accomodate two extra guests for breakfast (the newlywed couple). There is off-street parking behind the B and B though it is a bit tight to work with. There are several restaurants and some other shopping (including a Stewart's Ice Cream shop) about three-four blocks away on Union Street. Overall, a lovely relaxing stay.

We stayed at this excellent B&B during a very hot spell in June of this year and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The house was charming and cozy and Carol was a very informative and friendly host who was most helpful with directions and suggestions for local activities, bike trails, restaurants, etc.

A combination of air conditioning and fans made the upstairs bedrooms very comfortable in spite of the heat outdoors. Breakfasts were delicious and graciously served al fresco on the porch where we were cooled by an overhead fan and delighted by the beautiful surrounding gardens. Carol has thought of every small convenience to make one feel at home. All in all, it was a very welcoming experience.

We will definitely place Van Voast House B&B on our list of Memorable B&Bs. Thank you Carol!

We run our own small B and B in Northern New York, so when we were in Schenectady for a wedding, we of course chose a B and B. As innkeepers ourselves, we see things with a critical eye. The Van Voast House was a top-notch experience.

Everything in the house was neat as a pin. The decorating was spot on – lots of interesting things well displayed, and yet not kitschy. We stayed in the Garden Room, and were very comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent.

The host, Carol, has been in the B and B business for many years, and still seems to take pleasure in meeting every guest. We were getting together for dinner the night before the wedding with some family members, and Carol’s advice on where to go to dinner was right on the mark. She helped is out with finding our way around Schenectady, and filled us in on the local history of the wedding venue.

Two tips for walkers and joggers. For walkers, if you head a west a few blocks toward Union College, you will go by a small used book store that is worth stopping into. It looks jumbled as you enter, but the selections were intriguing. For joggers, the park a few blocks south of Van Voast House is extensive, beautiful, and has varied terrain.

We are confident you will enjoy your stay at Van Voast House

We only spent one night here, but the stay was very pleasant. Very clean and comfy. A wonderful breakfast to start the day. Several nice restaurants in the area.

We don't typically stay at B&B's but the reviews of hotels in the immediate area were pretty dismal.
Our host was friendly and helpful, and the room was squeaky clean and very comfortable.
Breakfast was the real thing... an interesting iteration of eggs, something we enjoyed and didn't have every day. We ate outdoors adjacent to the lovely garden.
Would definitely stay there again.

This B&B was wonderful. Very homey, immaculately clean and well maintained. Carol made us a great breakfast and was very sweet and easy to talk to. Highly recommend.

My 40th High School Reunion was made even more wonderful by staying with Carol!!! I'm so glad I made reservations before my classmates did. They had to stay at the Holiday Inn...Not only did my two girlfriends and I enjoy our charming room, everything was provided if we had forgotten it, ie. shampoo, razor, etc. Carol has thought of everything. We were treated to homemade cookies and Halloween candy in the room, as well as all you could want spring water and sodas in the fridge in the hall. We had a wonderful bathroom across the hall all to ourselves and even had a robe to use. We felt so much at home we went down to breakfast in our robes and jammies! Then there was breakfast.....fresh fruit, homemade creative omelettes, all fantastic. Carol really loves being an Inn keeper and makes all feel at home. Parking provided and a beautiful garden out back. THANK YOU Carol and for mailing back my earings I left behind. We will be back! Pamela, Ann and MaryJane
