Description: In a city steeped in tradition, from its historic healing spas to the horses, there is only one family owned restaurant that has endured for over 75 incredible, edible years - Panza's Restaurant. Panza's bakery opened its doors in Mechanicville in 1897. That was the first time Upstate New York experienced the delicious Neapolitan style brick oven baked pizza and other secret family recipes our relatives brought with them from the old country. Ma Panza and her husband Joseph were unable to speak English when they first arrived from Napoli, so they allowed their cooking to do the talking for them, and did it ever. Everyone in the neighborhood was talking about this new baking sensation called, "pizza." Ma Panza's authentic brand of home style Italian cooking became a staple in the Capital Region, and has continued in their tradition spanning more than five generations and still using the same brick oven Ma Panza cooked in. Today, we still offer the same authentic Italian fare Ma Panza made back in the late 1800s, serving guests in our restaurant and providing extensive catering services for banquets, weddings and events.

“First visit; will return”

We have been meaning to go to Panza's for some time (it is a bit out of the way for us) and finally got there on a Friday evening. We found a very comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff along with excellent food. Ma's baked lasagna is great as was the special, a fettucine dish with summer squash, grape tomatoes and parmasan. Excellent salads, too. We did not have to wait for a table (probably would not be the case in track season). There was live music from a pianist, which was good background befitting the setting. It is worth the trip out to Saratoga Lake.

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Ma Lanza would be proud of her family for carrying on such a great dining experience on Saratoga Lake. From a small pizza and meatballs place in the 50's Panzas is on of the region classiest and finest Italian dining spots. Tony Panzas and co. Take special care in every dish. The lounge is great, piano music on some nights and great pizzas on Wed. Every dish looks and tastes good. My favorite is ma Panzas pork chop, the ceaser salad is the best. Take time to check all the celebrities that have dined here over the years and add your name to the list.

“Great Italian food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

This restaurant is a little off the beaten path. It is across the street from Saratoga Lake, about a 10-15 minute drive from center of town. It is quieter here. The restaurant looks a little old school, but it is nice. The food is great and the owner takes a special interest and makes sure all are satisfied. The wait staff are attentive. They have live music on some nights. They have a loyal clientele.

“Great Food in a relaxed setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

Panza's is a great restaurant for getting delicious food in a quiet, relaxed setting. The chicken parm is excellent as both a sandwich and over pasta. Great place!

From the greeting we received when we walked through the door for a business lunch through the time we exited, excellent service and exceptional food.
