“Clearly a local favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

Had a great dinner here while heading back from a day of skiing in Vermont. The fish in the fish and chips was phenomenal, and the "chips" were pretty good too. Also a good varied beer selection. A bit crowded and noisy on a Saturday night, but I suppose that's to be expected for a local favorite bar.

“Just a little off Broadway...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Located on the corner of Grand and Beekman Streets, the Local is a great little restaurant. It's not terrible large and evokes the atmosphere of a pub or tavern. It's comfortable and serves an excellent menu...I would highly recommend the Shepherd's Pie although other menu selections are equally tasty. Fabulous selection of teas...and of course beer and wine. The service is excellent. Not to be missed on a visit to Saratoga Springs.

“Nice "Local" Eatery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The Local is located a little off of the main business district in what the town fathers refer to as the "Arts District." If specializes in local foods from nearby farms. I was there for brunch on a Saturday, and it was quite lively. I had the Irish Breakfast, with sausage, Irish bacon (ham), stewed tomato and eggs (I cheated and got mine scrambled, which they don't do in Ireland). It was all very tasty and reasonably priced. The menu consisted of a wide variety of breakfast-type items, as well as "tea" sandwiches and what looked to be a tasty hamburger. Service was fairly attentive. Just one little irony: I laughed a bit when a restaurant specializing in farm to table cuisine brough me two plastic packets of butter from Sysco in Texas. All in all I would very much recommend for lunch or brunch, and I'd certainly consider it for a casual dinner.

“Name says it all!”

Great local food, highly recommended. Service was excellent with a wide ranging menu. Price was less than common chains with far superior quality.

“Nice local pub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Nice little hidden place! Great beer and wine selection. The teas are awesome here!! The food was good but not a huge vegan menu. We went here because trip advisor listed it as a vegan choice. Very limited vegan brunch menu. Otherwise the food was tasty. Only real negative was that there many flies inside that were pestering us while we were eating.
