“Good when everyone wants something different”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We stopped in here for an early dinner. It worked out well because one person wanted Thai, another sushi, another Chinese. We did not order too much, but what we had was good.

The Pad Thai was a very generous and a very good dish. I ordered a bean curd soup for 2 that served as a meal. My wife had the cold sesame noodle appetizer as a meal. Although I thought the peanut sauce was too sweet and grainy with sugar, my wife liked it.

It was a large place and a nice atmosphere, although we were the only patrons at 4 pm.

“Avoid!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

Location is all this place has going for it. It tries to do Japanese, Chinese (all types, Mongoloian, Szechuan, Cantonese, Shanghai, etc.), and Thai, and does none of them well, as one might expect. Thai dish with zero flavor, udon soup bland, funky broth, fake crab, tasteless fish cake and scallops. Nice staff, but lousy chef.

“Food is excellent, waitress could have been a bit friendlier.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2012

I have to agree--this is a hidden gem in Saratoga. The food was delicious, and prepared perfectly. The noodles and dipping sauce are addictive (like chips!). We began our meal with an order of steamed pork potstickers, which we enjoyed. My husband ordered the Happy Family as an entree, and I ordered the Chicken Curry. We both chose brown rice versus white rice--and both entrees were delicious. With to-go containers at our side, we shared a serving of Green Tea Ice Cream. This exotic treat is not too sweet, and finished our meal nicely.

The restaurant was empty when we dined--a time in between lunch and dinner. The waitress could have acted a bit more like she wanted to be there, but wasn't the worst we've ever encountered. The food made up for her lack of enthusiasm.

We will definitely return!

“So Good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

We just keep going back for more. The Pacific grill has a large menu of Asian food, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and sushi. We never have to wait. Service is excellent. The staff hustles. It is a pleasant atmosphere. There is a bar area down below, and outdoor seating in the summer, as well as lovely large booths and tables indoors. It is a place you could bring a date, a business associate, or your kids. It is casual but nice. You get good sized portions for your money, but it is hard to resist eating it all. We usually have shrimp spring rolls, fried pork dumplings, and/or won-ton soup as appetizers. They also provide free fried noodles for the table and they keep them coming without asking. My family's favorites there are: sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, and mine is shrimp chow fun (a wide noodle with bean sprouts and shrimp.) It is always prepared perfectly. The fried rice is excellent too. Can't say enough about it. I think they take reservations, but we usually don't make them. They can accommodate a large group in the center of the restaurant. In the summer you would probably want to make reservations since it gets busy. They serve lunch and offer take-out also. Entrees average around $10-$12 dollars. It is clean and food is fresh, not greasy. Haven't tried the sushi only because we have our favorites now.

“hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

Hiding in plain site on Putnam Street (large, tasteful but comfortable red-boothed dining room in the back, not apparent from the street) is a terrific Asian restaurant with great surroundings and tasty, well-presented Thai, Sushi and Chinese dishes. The food is well and subtly flavored (no greasy Chinese here).

Somehow, although the red brick building has character and a great location in the middle of downtown Saratoga, the entrance on Putnam Street doesn't draw one in (one sees only a small Sushi bar, not the inviting dining area in back); but go in and you'll be glad you did!

Great atmosphere and Asian flavors in a central Saratoga spot!
