“Lovely anniversary spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

My husband and I went to Longfellows for our 1st Anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The loft room was so cozy and comfortable. The food was so delicious and the portions were BIG!!!!!! The location was perfect, just outside of town (close enough, but enough out of town that you feel nestled away!). One down side, is that the jacuzzi tub was sort of small, I think it would be helpful to put a picture of the jacuzzi size on the website so people are aware of the size....other than that WONDERFUL place to stay.

Room Tip: loft rooms are great

My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary on October 13th, and wanted to do something special. We are local (only about 40 minutes from Saratoga), so Longfellows was a perfect one-night getaway far enough from home that we felt like we were on vacation, but close enough to get there and back without a headache. We booked the Relaxation Package - a fantastic deal. We arrived a little after check-in time, and our room was still being cleaned. The employees at the front desk were so friendly and helpful that we didn't mind waiting about ten minutes for our room. The Relaxation Package consists of a one night stay in one of the King Loft rooms, champagne and chocolate upon arrival, a four-course dinner for two, a half hour or full hour massage, and complimentary continental breakfast.

The King Loft rooms come with a jacuzzi, two flat-screen tvs in armoires, a sitting area with a desk, mini-fridge, sink, and coffee maker, and a loft area with a king size bed. Our room was on the back of the building, so we had a beautiful view of the autumn leaves and a wedding on a lawn, which was fun to see. The receptionist, Kelly Jo, offered to call us when the masseuse arrived because we couldn't remember what time our appointment was, and she did call. I would have really liked for our massages to happen together, but there was only one masseuse, so we had to go separately. The massages were AMAZING. It was our first time and I definitely enjoyed it. It was nice soaking in the jacuzzi afterward while my husband had his massage. We ordered our appetizers to our room and were able to enjoy them without getting too stuffed at dinner.

Dinner was delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. When she heard it was our anniversary, she gave us extra silverware to take to our room with our dessert so we could cut the top layer of our wedding cake, which we had saved. My only complaint was that there was a wedding going on, and we were seated directly down a small staircase from the reception and the DJ was very LOUD. We took our dessert and leftovers back to our room with us. When we called the front desk for a cork screw to open our wine, Kelly Jo brought it up to us immediately.

Breakfast was your normal continental breakfast - English muffins, pastries, yogurt, cereals, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and milk. The coffee and tea selection was great, and it was available 24 hours. Upon check out, the only thing we had to pay was tax. You can tip in cash (as we did) or leave gratuity on the slips you sign for dinner, etc. and pay it at the front dest when you check out. It was a fantastic night and I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be going back to Longfellows!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back of the building offer an excellent view of the trees and hills, rather than the pa...

We enjoyed our anniversary by using a gift certificate to this extraordinary hotel. We upgraded to a package deal when we checked in because of the gracious hostess at the front desk. She explained the deal and went out of her way to accommodate our "likes and dislikes". My husband is disabled so we passed on the King loft room for a room with a king-sized bed, jetted tub and walk in shower. We opted to have our meal delivered to the room which allowed us to just sit back and enjoy the quiet and relaxing room. The meal was delicious and you got a lot of food!!! We will definitely take advantage of this experience again. What a way to create wonderful memories. Thank You!!

We took advantage of Longfellow's Romance Package on a quiet Sunday night in September after track season ended. This was not our first time visiting Longfellows for this package. We love the King loft rooms. They are spacious and comfortable with a king-sized bed in the loft area and a seating area with a small kitchenette and desk on the lower level. Both levels have large flat-screened TVs in armoires.

Upon check-in, we were greeted warmly at the front desk and the Romance package was explained to us. The package includes a king-loft room with a jacuzzi tub, chilled champagne and chocolates in the room upon arrival, a four-course dinner for each person and a continental breakfast in the morning. My only complaint with the loft rooms is the large hexagon or octagon shaped window that doesn't have curtains or blinds. It means you are usually awoken by the light streaming in the window, early in the morning, even if your goal was to sleep-in.

You can choose to have your dinner in the restaurant, or to have all or part of it delivered to your room. You each get an appetizer, a salad, an entree, and a dessert.

The food is always excellent when we are there. My only complaint with the restaurant is that it is often noisy, which can dampen the romantic "feeling" of the trip. I think the hotel staff, when making the restaurant reservation for the Romance package, should indicate to the restaurant staff that the couple is staying for the Romance package. Then the hostess, when seating the couple for dinner, should place them in a quieter section of the restaurant. Keep the couples away from the bar (and the TVs showing football), and away from the other large groups like the wedding and birthday parties, so they can enjoy their time together. One year we were placed on a floor between a wedding and several birthday parties. It was so loud that I had a headache by the end of the meal. On this trip, we were placed in the bar area, right above the entrance, and where we could see the TVs. Not a great way to encourage romance in my opinion, but others may enjoy watching football together. :)

The continental breakfast is fairly standard (and carb-heavy): coffee, juice, milk, Quaker oatmeal, a selection of cold-cereals, fruity yogurt, pastries, english muffins, and oranges or apples.

We always have a great time at the hotel and enjoy our meals very much. Then we head to downtown Saratoga and enjoy the day, walking around and checking out the shops. I highly recommend taking advantage of the Romance package at Longfellows!

We needed a place to have a family dinner with approx. 20 people. My folks frequent this restaurant and I have never been (even though I grew up in the local area). The service was wonderful. They did not have any private rooms available, but they set us up in a quiet corner upstairs out of everyone's way to have a great meal. Service was great, food was wonderful and drinks were plentiful. Great atmosphere with Saratoga style decor. (We actually were here in Sept. 2012, but tripadsvisor wouldn't let me select that date that far back)

We had a romance package given to us and had heard great things about the hotel. A bottle of champagne and chocolates in the room on arrival. We had a hour massage and then back to the room for appetizers. Everyone was very accommodating. Then off to a late dinner of very good food and then a little gambling at the nearby racino. Room was very nice with a loft bedroom. Wish we had time to use the whirlpool tub but being parents of teenagers we can't get away to long. You won't be disappointed. Did I mention we took the desert back to the room for a late night snack. They aim to please. Very close to everything but far enough to relax.

Room Tip: Try to get the loft rooms.

We spent the night at this lovely hotel to attend a wedding. The service was outstanding. The room was spacious and well appointed. We will definitely return as it is a short drive to all Saratoga has to offer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building not the one with the restaurant.
