“Cozy, quiet, relaxing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

I have been going here since 1967. On and off the past few years due to elderly parents and college age kids. Hard to get everyone on the same schedule. Trying to get back soon. This is a very old Inn. It has creaks and breezes, and character. I haven't been since they have the new chef, but I hope they kept some of the original recipes. We have visited in every season, but mostly in winter. The mountain property is beautiful for hiking. It is truly hiking too, not groomed into flat wide paths. Plenty to keep you busy if you want to be, or just relax and read a book or do a puzzle in the game room or the living room. Weather permitting sit in a rocking chair on the porch and enjoy the country air.

Room Tip: No elevator, so choose a lower floor if the stairs are too much.

We gathered 18 family members from far and near -- ranging in age from 1 to 85 years -- to celebrate my husband's birthday at the Winter Clove Inn. Everyone had a great time! All the staff were helpful. The setting was perfect. The food and food service was excellent. The many options for activities -- swimming, hiking, basketball, bowling, badminton, and more -- suited every taste. The extras -- such as a bonfire to roast marshmallows at night, and a lunch picnic with live music -- were bonuses. Our rooms were fine, cozy and old-fashioned. We would recommend the Inn for any family looking for a relaxing place to gather and have fun!

We have been coming here on and off since I was a child. The hotel itself is so quaint. Lovely rooms and spectacular views. The food is generous and good. We are never hungry! There is much to do on the property (indoor and outdoor pool, bowling alley, tennis, hiking).

Room Tip: We love the top floor

My husband and I were married here on 5/31/14, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was just PERFECT. Thank you to Lenore, Bud, Chef Vanessa and EVERYONE for making the whole weekend perfect. We loved that we were able to make our wedding our own here; the staff and owners facilitate what YOU want and take a fairly hands off approach; you can plan what you want! They do not act like pushy wedding planners in a "get 'em in get 'em out" factory wedding location way, which was so, so, so important to us. If you're looking to avoid the four-hour cliche, "stick to your schedule" wedding, THIS is the place. SO many of guests told us how much they just LOVED their weekend stay here with us. The food and rooms were wonderful and so affordable due to the deal the Winter Clove gave our guests! Thank you so very much for EVERYTHING, Winter Clove family. We can't wait to come back for our anniversary--and with kids too, one day! : )

The title of the review is no hyperbole. The Winter Clove was like something I dreamed up. The location is picturesque to the point that it makes you want to weep, the rooms are comfortable and reassuringly old world, the facilities are terrific (everything from something as simple as a basketball court, to something as complicated as a bowling alley), and the staff were extra attentive and helpful, especially considering how many of us there were.

I was there for a friend's wedding, and the weekend was bliss from the word 'go'. A welcome break from the bustle of the city, and everything you could want from a secluded Catskills inn. Terrific walks surround the grounds, the views are stunning from almost any standpoint, the building itself is pretty, and even the little things like wi-fi get the attention they need.

We played and danced and sang and ate and drank ourselves silly all weekend in this beautiful little paradise. I would recommend it for weddings, or just to stay in general. In a word: lovely.

Room Tip: The views are better from the front, but the ones at the back are by nothing to be frowned at either...

This was my wife's and my second stay at Winter Clove. We had made the reservation last November for a particular room, and was cheerfully honored w/o us even mentioning it. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff made us feel right at home. Great hiking trails too.

A group of 18 of us stayed at Winter Clove for a family reunion last weekend. We were given the whole top floor, which has many rooms (each with its own full bath) as well as a huge central living room with couches, a refrigerator, and a television- we had a blast spending our evenings hanging out all together in that upstairs living room. We enjoyed every meal- the options were surprisingly good, and always included a soup or salad and dessert. The breakfasts were the best- we left breakfast stuffed full each morning! The meals do take a while; however, we did have 18 people who were being served each meal at once so the delay was understandable. Our waitress Heather anticipated all of our needs and accomodated all of our requests- whether it was how we wanted the table configured or the amount of vegetarian meals we needed. She even made sure that at each meal my 1 year old son's place setting did not have a knife anywhere near it!
Our room was spotless, and the rest of the hotel charming. The owner and staff were all lovely and helpful. We all took great hikes on the beautiful property, and many of the adults and kids spent a lot of time in the indoor pool, while others had a blast at the bowling alley. There is a basketball court, playground and field that the children in our group also enjoyed. We have already booked our second reunion for next year at the Winter Clove.
