“I highly recommend!”

Highly recommended!By KBF-KVet, 08/03/10My wife and I stayed in one of the motel rooms 4 years ago (2006) and in 2 of the house rooms this year (2010). We thoroughly enjoyed the experiences. The rooms are very clean with very comfortable beds. We stayed at a nearby motel and the mattresses had the comfort of a sack of potatoes and the pillows were like footballs. We slept like babies in the Reynolds House rooms. The biggest bonus was the owners, Lou & Sue. They are extremely friendly, accommodating, and fun to hang with. The room rates are, in my opinion, very reasonable. Although you can pay less in other motels that are nearby, you'll "pay" for the lower rates in other ways. I gave 5-star ratings to all categories except for location and room, to which I gave 4 stars. This is because the inn is very close to a main street that runs through Roscoe. It can get quite loud when trucks and/or motorcycles cruise by. However, traffic lessens at night and we never had trouble falling asleep, even in rooms in the front of the inn that face the street. The house rooms we stayed in were small, with small bathrooms but, I have no complaints. Overall, I give the Reynolds House a 5-star rating

Every first weekend in June, we celebrate the time-honored tradition of “bug week.” If you’re a fly fisherman, you know this is a very good thing. The bugs don’t bite (they don’t even have mouths) but the fish bite the bugs and there you have it. Roscoe is a tiny village on the banks of the junction pool, one of the most famous and honored spots in American fishing folklore.

Reynolds House is two wonderful accommodations in one. The main house has a variety of rooms, all clean and comfortable. The strip motel behind the main house is our favorite. Like the classic “road trip” places from your youth only clean, updated and spacious. How many places can you stay nowadays that offer a window in the bathroom (and cross ventilation)? The Reynolds House is on old Route 17, the main highway through town, but this is Roscoe, NY! It’s rare that you have to watch for cars crossing the road for the short walk into the “center of town.” About one city block long with at least four fly shops, a great pizza restaurant, a small grocery and a farmers market on summer Sundays.

There are three things besides the idyllic setting that make the Reynolds House special. Others have raved about the breakfast. The waffles are great and sitting with fellow fisherman, sharing our plans for winning the battler of wits with the denizens of the rivers (browns, brookies and rainbows) is a great way to start the day. People come from all over (Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania, NY city and State, Canada and Europe to name a few) to fish these hallowed waters and the variety of personalities and experiences is entertaining and enlightening. If you’re early risers, grab a big cup of coffee from the Sunoco next door to warm you in the morning chill on the porch.

Because the second wonderful features are those porches, both on the main house and the motel. You meet up with those companions from breakfast, now fortified with dinner and libations and talk in quiet conversation about the day’s victories and heartbreaks. I must warn you, lies are told but, after all, we are fisherman. You can spend hours there if you quit early and watch the later and later diehards trickle back in. Waders strung from the drying hooks outside the rooms add to the ambiance. By this time, hardly a car passes by as you watch the clouds of Green Drakes hovering around the overhead lights at the Sunoco.

But, by far the greatest things I enjoy about the Reynolds House are Louie and Sue, who are the heart of the place. These are two people born for hospitality and they and their little dogs form the centerpiece of the porch conversations. Kind, attentive, funny and warm, they set out from New York City to live the quiet life of the mountains and keep a beautiful property. From the flowers planted all around the place to the contagious laughter, their touches are what keep us returning every year. Even if you don’t fish (but it’s even better if you do), if you find yourself in Roscoe, NY by either design or circumstance, this is the place you want to escape from the world for a little while.

Lou and Sue, the owners, are welcoming and the rooms in their old Victorian house are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is continental style but better. The front porch is a great place to sit and visit with friends, other guests or the owners when they are off duty. The prices are reasonable. You'll like the friendly, open feel of the place.

We traveled to New York State for our daughter's graduation over the Memorial Day weekend. Many hotels were already booked when we were planning our trip several months ago. There must have been something in the stars, because we landed in just the right place.

Roscoe is located about half way between JFK airport and Cornell University. The town of Roscoe and the Reynolds House Inn are both adorable and make you feel as if you have traveled back in time. If you are looking for fancy and snobby, this is not the place for you. However, if you want a nice room, with a comfortable bed in the center of town (albeit a small town) then this is the place.

From the moment we drove up and saw the covered wrap around porch and the American flag for Memorial Day we knew we had chosen the right place.

Coummunity/family-style breakfasts each morning were very nice -- especially the waffles. They had a really cool waffle maker and pre-portioned servings of batter so you can cook up your own waffles just the way you like 'em. They also had real butter, real maple syrup and fresh strawberries.

On the morning of memorial day there was a town parade with singing and the honoring of fallen soldiers. This was followed by a town barbecue and small festival.

Our weekend was so rushed with graduation, our only regret was that we didn't get to stay longer and really enjoy the place.

We took the kids up for a fun weekend of sleighriding and had a blast. It was a winter wonderland. The kids sled down the massive mountain that sits behind the motel. The rooms were warm and cozy. We weren't able to stay in the main house since it was closed for the winter. But the hostess took us on a grand tour and the rooms are decorated beautifully. The owners were gracious and helpfull. We're excited to go back when the B&B is open and do some fishing.

My brother and I were looking for the perfect and special weekend get-away. The Inn definitely provided us with that! In the middle of the night, a bat-dog dressed in a sparkling romper flew into our room! We ate cheese together! it was magical!

We decided to take a spontaneous drive to the Catskills this past weekend. We did little or no research...and after about a two hour drive were wondering if we made the right decision after all. After doing some quick searches on Google in the vehicle we came across this adorable B and B. From the moment I spoke to them on the phone I knew it would be the perfect place. The owners are absolutely welcoming--rooms very clean and the continental breakfast goes beyond the traditional standards. The rates are extremely affordable and there are some great restaurants near by. We are planning on going back soon!
