“Excellent Bike ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

If biking is an activity you enjoy, this path is for you. A well cared for surface with ever-changing scenery along either the Barge / Erie Canal. It stretches over a hundred miles combined. There are rare spots where rather than road like surface there is gravel, but any road bike can handle the terrain. There are locks with parks, There are wooden Decks. It passes through Gennesee Valley Park which has amenities like a swiming pool, baseball diamonds, frisbee golf course and a public golf course. The Gennesee River and the Erie canal intersect in this park and there are a series of bridges to view this from. It is really beatiful in the Spring, Summer and Fall. There is an ice skating rink in the park in the fall. Personally I have yet to explore many portions of the trail as it is so vast. Oh, you can't beat the price as admission is free!

Beautiful trail to walk or ride your bike. Great vegetation and plenty of ducks! Fun to watch boats too.

“The great biking and running trail”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

It follows the Genessee River up by the University of Rochester, then into Genessee Park and continues for another two miles in great nature surrounding. Unfortunately to connection with the rest it (down to the Pennsylvania border) must be made over a busy street. It also connects to the Erie Canal trail and soon should connect to the rest of the trail up (on the map, down in altitude) to Ontario lake.

“A great view and fun, different trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

The entire greenway trail that I've seen so far has been nothing but entertaining. I've taken the greenway trail from Scottsville Rd into the city of Rochester by bike, and I've walked it towards Scottsville the opposite direction about a block or two away from Scottsville road. The trail is never over crowded outside of the canal, and it's a different view of the Genesee river along Scottsville road. Personally, I just enjoy going behind the businesses on Scottsville road and seeing them from a different angle! And sometimes you'll catch people playing paintball in the back of one of the plaza's as well. (so if you hear popping and see people shooting from behind a netted area, don't worry, there's a paintball course behind the net)
