Owner description: Come over to play at the only museum in the world devoted solely to the importance of play. The museum blends the best features of both history museums (extensive collections and children's museums (high interactivity). At 282,000 square feet, The Strong is the largest regional year-round family attraction, and the second largest "children's" museum in the nation. The museum takes play very seriously. Its philosophy-that play is essential to learning and human development-is reflected everywhere you look beginning with its uniquely whimsical architecture (including a butterfly house built to look like the world's largest butterfly, an undulating two-story caterpillar-shaped atrium, and a structure resembling a pile of gigantic children's building blocks). Engaging hands-on exhibits invite you to attend Super Powers School, meet the Berenstain Bears, play your way through the history of video games, enter a giant kaleidoscope, board a whaling ship, see the world's oldest Monopoly games, step into Sesame Street, walk into the pages of a giant pop-up book, and so much more! The museum is home to the region's only indoor butterfly garden; the world's largest and most comprehensive collection of dolls, toys, and games; and the prestigious National Toy Hall of Fame(R). Amenities include a food court, indoor train and carousel, two museum shops, and an outdoor Discovery Garden.Admission Fees: General Admission (does not include admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden(R)):2 and older $13.50, Children under age 2 are free, Museum members free. Admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden: General Admission fee plus $3 for members, $4 for nonmembers; children under 2 free. Entry is by timed ticket only. Parking: Free parking is available at the museum for all guests on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that, on high visitation days, the museum lot may reach capacity early in the day. If space is not available on site at the time of your visit, additional parking is available at neighboring municipal garages for a fee. The Strong is not responsible for fees incurred at off-site locations.

“Great time for little travellers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

We've been to the Strong museum of play two times now, and the kids had fun both times. The first time we purchased a pass so that if we were passing through the area, or on a shopping trip we could stop in again. It was a full day event the first time, and the kids really enjoyed it, the second time, it was a great diversion and way to break up the first day of a long road trip. My younger two 4, 6 obviously enjoyed it more than my 15 and 17 year old did, but the older kids enjoyed the arcade, and the overall museum display, there was something to do for everyone. They have a food court, and a diner inside an old train streetcar/train car, also a carousel and train ride (1$ ticket) Butterfly area costs extra
They seemed to have some free strollers you could use while there as well.

Lots of interest for adults. A very comprehensive display of toys going back over 100 years. Lots of modern and interactive stuff to interest the kids. Well worth a family visit.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

I went her with my sister and her kids. Their ages are 13, 8 and 5. All of them had an awesome day. This is a very big museum with lots of things to do. It was easy to get to, great parking and reasonable price to get in. Very clean. Definitely a must do!!

“Fun for all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

The Strong Museum brings out the kid in everyone. The carousel and diner greet visitors -- do stop and enjoy before buying your tickets. Then once inside you'll see every toy you ever loved and some you forgot you loved. Play stations are sprinkled throughout the large building, and even the most persnickety visitor will find something to smile about. Do pay the extra fee for the butterfly habitat. The cavalcades of color will soothe and delight, especially on a cold day. Well worth every penny spent. A must see attraction.

“Fantastic day for small kids”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

150,000 sq feet of fun! So much to do. Our kids are 3 and 5 - we've been going for 3 years. It's a fantastic place, plans on being there for a few hours and don't be in a rush. Your kids will not want to leave. Very reasonable price, we buy a season family pass for $99. Amazing facility and exhibits, very nice employees, a happy place.
