“Warm Reception for Extended Family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We booked three rooms on short notice so that 10 of us -- ranging in age from 73 years to 4 months -- could come to Rochester from Virginia, Vermont and California to attend a dear relative's memorial service and be together for two rare days of shared sadness but also important quality time. Cindy and Lou were marvelous to our entire family, showing little touches of thoughtfulness throughout our time together. When Lou learned that our grandson was studying Suzuki violin, he took time to talk with him about his own musical career and to show him a violin he was in the process of repairing. The breakfasts were outstanding, and Cindy prepared special things for the 3 and 5 years olds. We've lost most of our Rochester-based family (my husband grew up there), but we will return and will definitely visit the Rose Garden B&B again!

This was the location for a special luncheon with 7 friends - and it was a most delightful setting. The beautiful gardens and amazing porch invited us to find a comfy seat and relax in this restful setting. A tour of the inn tempted us to book a room - even though we live nearby. But it was the luncheon that crowning touch! Fresh fruit salads, grilled pineapple, peaches and cream stuffed fresh toast with homemade turkey sausage - served so graciously by Cindy and Lou - each course was more scrumptious!

I would definitely book this lovely inn for any special event in the future!

If you love antiques, beautiful flowering gardens, and fancy and tasty breakfasts, this is the place for you! This B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood just off Lake Avenue and a short distance from the Rose Garden. It's obvious that the gracious innkeepers love what they do. We stayed in the English Rose room which was bright and cheerful with a comfortable bed. We spent a lot of time with friends on their porch overlooking the gardens. One morning we enjoyed a gourmet breakfast salad followed by blueberry waffles with maple syrup. The other morning they served a delicious dessert-like peach stuffed french toast and sweet grilled pineapple....yummy! Cindy and Lou are very hospitable and it was a pleasure to share their home with them.

This was the perfect place to stay while visiting our son at the University of Rochester. Our room was comfortable and decorated with lovely antiques, but nicely air-conditioned on 2 very warm days. The porch was a wonderful escape for reading and relaxing. Nearby parks and walking paths and close to museums and historical sites. Best of all are Lou's amazing breakfasts and Cindy and Lou's hospitality. We'll be back here for certain!

We were visiting Rochester for the first time since I (Francois) had graduated. This is a lovely place, very well located. The hosts are such nice people, the breakfasts are awsome. We liked everything about that place. We have travelled quite a lot in the US, Canada and overseas and this is one of the best places we stayed in. You won't regret staying there and if you can catch the Lilac festival it will be even prettier. Thank you Lou and Cindy!

My daughter and I go on roadtrips every once in a while and try to find a special place to stay and something fun to do. The Rose Garden was our special place this year and will be a lasting memory. The hosts, Cindy and Lou, were amazingly friendly and helpful in every way. They greeted us so warmly and showed us around their beautiful home - inside and outside. We stayed in the English Rose Room and it was lovely! The bed was so comfortable and everything was clean and decorated with love and charm. Our breakfast was out of this world and Lou really has that special ingredient (love) that he adds to the food. It was delicious. It was my birthday and they even gave us some cake with candles, a birthday card, and sang to me! Talk about feeling special! I couldn't have asked for a more personable place to stay. We loved getting to know Cindy and Lou and we'll be back for sure! Thanks for the lasting memory! Karen and Valerie

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at this wonderful B&B just a few days ago. We were greeted at the front door by Cindy & Lou, the owners, who introduced themselves, showed us around, and really made us feel like home. Cindy gave us a map of the area and suggested restaurants. We stayed in the Sunflower Room, which used to be the maid's quarters, and it was more like a suite, as it had an attached sun room with a day bed, rocking chair, and beautiful view. Everything in the room looked fresh, but it had a lived-in feeling which made it all that more comfortable. All bathroom amenities, including toothbrushes and their travel containers, were provided free of charge. The hallway had a mini-fridge and not only could travelers keep cold their food, but also contained drinks, and a stand next to it with a variety of granola bars and other snacks. We scheduled breakfast at 9 a.m., and though we were quite late, Cindy was very gracious and served us a terrific meal made by Lou which accomodated my girlfriend's gluten allergy. They even gave us a gift at the end of the meal! In short, our stay was fantastic. The next time we are in Rochester, we will definitely stay here.
