“Great time on St. Patrick's Day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We stopped in after the parade and again on St. Patrick's Day. There was a line for a short time but well worth the warmth and friends waiting inside to greet us. Everyone at Johnny's is always friendly and happy--Jumbo Shrimp and the Dady Brothers were on the bill during the weekend. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel welcome to be a part of the scene. Johnny does a great job making this event appropriate for all guests. I did not eat but everyone with us enjoyed the Reuben sandwiches and other menu fare. Crowded yes, but it was a great crowd to be a part of.

“What a great pub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

I visited Johnny's with a friend on the same day of the Rochester St. Patricks Day parade. My friend knew Johnny's owner who was the grand marshal of the parade. He pulled his parade float out in front of the bar after the parade. Bar was packed with people and was decked out in green. We drank harp beers and met some wonderful people while listening to a great band called "Jumbo Shrimp"

It was a great place to visit and the atmosphere was fantastic. My friend is a local person and I met a bunch of people he knew - all the people in the bar were very friendly whether he knew them or not.

Beer tastes better when you have nice people to enjoy it with!

“Best Pub in Town - period!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

If you want to feel like "Norm walking into Cheers" check out Johnny's. You will not find a more gracious owner, the staff is great and the beer selection is phenomenal. Johnny has free entertainment on most nights. My wife and I frequent Johnny's because the crowd is always laid back but having a great time, the music is exceptional and the food is excellent. Johnny goes out of his way to bring in great bands that the crowd loves. If you want advice on the more than 20 different beers on tap, talk to Jeff. He is hands down the best bartender in town.

“Great food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

I have been to Johnny's a number of times as it always has a great selection of beer and the pub brings in good musical talent on select nights. Johnny's seems to draw a following of happy people who are looking for a good night out in a casual scene. It can be busy on music nights but the mood keeps it friendly and enjoyable.

About a year ago they introduced a food menu. It has much of what i would consider classic pub fare, ie. sandwiches, burgers, wings which was a great addition. The food is well prepared and good quality. The wings are classic buffalo style and meaty, the steak sandwich is put together the way I have had them in Philly, and the wife has been happy with her selections of chicken or vegetable items.

One night we stopped by and they had a beer and food pairing. I guess occasionally they will advertise this on facebook. The price is very reasonable when considering you get a selection of sampler microbrews with matched menu items. The night we were there the menu included beef tenderloin, guinness pudding, and homestyle mac and cheese.

Overall I recommend this pub for those groups of friends, couples, or individuals looking to enjoy great beer and food without the intensity of the college scene.

“A great place for adults”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

The reason my wife and I frequent Johnny's is because we are able to socialize with people our own age. All the kids go to East and Alexander where they can drink with their friends at any variety of meat-markets available. Johnny's offers great live music, friendly service and now a full Irish Pub style menu for those who are hungry. Of course, Johnny's is our place for St. Patrick's Day and has been for over 10 years. Thank you Johnny for keeping this neighborhood bar real and appropriate for adults who want to spend time with other adults.
