“This is a diner, but a good one!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

Regardless of the name, Pete's is a diner. But it's a cute one with friendly servers, quirky owners, good diner prices, and the food is above average diner fare. There are booths, tables, and a counter with stools, so something for everyone whether you're a 1, a family, or a couple. Their banana walnut pancakes are very tasty and the egg white omelettes are cooked perfectly. A solid recommendation.

“Stay away....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2011

Pete's Famous both in Hyde Park or Rhinebeck is a place to stay far away from.
The Clam Chowder was like a cup of drying plaster of paris...the Gyro was so spicey your face turned purple on a bed of wilted day old lettuce...the coffee was cold and undrinkable...I really should not continue as I do not want to be as honest as I should be.
Cannot understand how they stay in business, maybe the locals have more tolerance

“UNBELIEVABLY HORRENDOUS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2010

Get this: Ignored for 3 minutes at the door. 40 minutes (no exaggeration) for one plate of breakfast to arrive incorrect, incomplete, overdone, and cold (while 5 other tables were seated, greeted, and served hot food). Sent it back without yelling or getting nasty. Another 15 minutes goes by and the server says
"Would you like anything else?" We say
"Other than the original order? No" She says
"Oh, you wanted us to remake it?" No, we were just sitting here basking in the afterglow of miserable service and cold food! The kicker: they presented us with a bill for the full amount. Wow...

We ended up going across the street to Bread Alone and the difference was night and day (see my review for them).

“Excellent Diner Quisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2009

I have been many times to this local eatery. Most of the clientele are the locals who know a good meal, with good service and value. The menu has a large selection bound to please even the finicky eater. This diner is a throwback to the 1950's and is worth every effort to visit.
