“Great planning, great service, reasonable charges”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2010

The Tavern at the Beekman Arms hosted our party of 27 on Black Friday evening.
The planning by Ms Brenda Catalano was very cordial and professional.
She was very helpful in selecting the appropriate room, the setting and the menu.
Every thing was in order on time for our arriving guests.
The wait staff was very professional and personable and efficient.
The setting, the good food and drink and the costs were all per plan.
We will encourage our friends to book their next function at the Tavern at the Beekman Arms.

“Expensive Drinks, Good Food but took forever”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2010

The Tavern is loaded with colonial character. The drinks were overpriced so I wouldn't linger there. The Greenhouse/Atrium was nicely bright and airy to eat in. The 3 entrees we had were tasty - but took forever to arrive on a busy Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

“Mediocre to Inedible Food, and Mixed to Poor Service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2010

WOW. And I'm not using that word in a good sense. What a complete let-down our late lunch/early dinner this weekend was at the Beekman Arms restaurant. It's pretty, yes, and atmospheric, but the food was beyond mediocre, and one dish, a "beet and horseradish marinated salmon" was actually inedible - rubbery, bizarrely unseasoned and fishy in an oily, rank way. For the first time in my adult life, I wanted to spit my bite out. Instead I washed the bite down with the rest of my glass of wine, left the rest untouched on my plate, and swiped the rest of my husband's lobster "crepe" appetizer, which was 'acceptable.' But his wasn't THAT great either or he wouldn't have let me swipe it. Even my son's flavorless cardboard calamari tasted good compared to that salmon. The rest of the meal? Egh. Bleh. Mediocre. Kept having to ask the nice but ill-trained waitress to clear dirty dishes and bring spoons and forks with additional courses - inexcusable. The desserts were weirdly textured and bland (there were four of us and all of us had issues with our food and desserts). Grocery store vanilla pudding is better than their creme brulee, and silkier, too. We went for a walk around the town of Rhinebeck afterwards and it was like rubbing salt in our wounds to see all of the people eating al fresco in less-historic, but truly interesting and hopping restaurants, ENJOYING THEIR MEALS. Beekman Arms, you have a lot of rehab work to do, I fear.

“Mother's day 2007”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2008

We made reservations for a table for 6 for Mother's Day early dinner at least a week or more in advance only to find our party seated in an added on tent to the historic restaurant. We were then treated to a buffet style dinner--mostly all self serve for approximately $45/per person. The food and service were both disappointing. We've been dining in the area for over 20 years and i suspect we won't be coming back to the Beekman Arms for a long while....

“the tavern at the beekman arms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2007

visited nearby fdr/vanderbilt mansions. stopped by beekman for dinner, hadn't been there in 20 years. the service was marginal and we were especially disappointed when we were nearly done with our meals and overheard other tables being offered "dinner specials."

it wasn't as special as i had remembered. they also need to hire friendly, informed servers. we also had to ask for water numerous times.

the bathrooms didn't have toilet paper and the garbage was overflowing.

when we arrived, a table that was leaving was discussing their disappointing dinner at length and that should have been our clue.

go to le petit bistro across the street. we'll be visiting them next weekend, they're 2007 zagat rated which i use as a rough guideline.
